    dead bird

I was out riding this weekend and stopped to stretch my legs, the bike was running good no problems with anything except a leaky fork seal ( that will be changed after riding season). when I got back on the bike I turned the key on and nothing, no dash lights, no headlights no electrical at all. Its a '97 model new battery this year and its still shows good charge, all fuses are good even the 30 main. and battery connections are good, no accessories added to it for any extra drain. I thought i would bump start it and it started still no dash lights or electrical system. the dash lights did flicker when it first turned over but that was it. the bike only ran for about a 100 yards and started to sputtur and die, can not restart. Could this be the ignition switch? has anyone had this problem b4? :icon_banghead:
  4. http://urawa.cool.ne.jp/kazunyanko/kazu-pa...to/kazu-bbe.htm can anybody tell me what kind of handlbars he has on his black bird, i might be interested.
  5. Thanx for everything, seafoam has it running fine on flat land, but does not have the compression to pull up the slightest incline :icon_wall:
  6. guys thanx for all the stories, glad to see i'm not the only one with eager youngens.
  7. Thanx that is what i plan on doing today.
  8. last week I caught my 4 year old filling up her big sisters four wheel with the water hose. still running but not good. I took the tank off and drained the tank and flushed the lines out. let it set for two days to dry out, added new gas with some water remover addititve. it ran ggod for about 10 min the stalled. Now it will start fine but it will not rev very high, almost like a constant idle, and will only do this for about 30 seconds then it shuts off. I changed plug and gas filter. it is a kaw 50. What else should I do??? :icon_wall: ps. the 4 wheeler was not started with any gas in the tank. thanx for any info jamie

    oil leak

Thanx for the info. thats the problem jamie

    oil leak

I noticed a puddle of oil under my bike last week and started to look for the leak, at first it looked like the gasket between the top half and lower half of the motor. After further inspection I noticed it was coming out of the weep hole under the exhaust manifold just a 1/4" above the gasket. If sitting on the bike it is the one farthest to the right. I looked at the service manual and contacted my dealer and neither showed an oil line in that area of the motor. Also neither new what the weep holes are their for, there is one under each exhaust port. the oil is not pressurized (meaning it is not squirting out), but after a few minutes of idle a steady stream runs out. If anyone has had this problem please let me know the remedy. Thanx, jamie
  11. I was not able to find missing gasket. Local dealerships wants $40 bucks for new gasket, this does not sound reasonabel to me. Just put a new one on my car it was only $7. Any idea on where to find a cheaper one?
  12. Pete you were right, there was about a 1/4" of the gasket missing around the #4 plug. Thanx. new gasket is on order.
  13. OH SHIT!! I went to check the torque settings because I had the valve cover off this winter. After I pulled the tank and air box I noticed some oil on the vavle cover and on every thing else. I started looking for leaks and could not find any, except when I pulled the plug wire off the plug farthest to the right there was about 2" of oil setting in there and the plug was almost completely submerged. Is there a seal for each one of the plugs, maybe an oring or a gasket? none of the other plugs had any ouil around them. I soaked up all the oil that I could. Going to the store tomorrow for some new plugs oil and filter. Does anyone know what could have caused this? Please advise.
  14. It will be this weekend befor I get to look at it, I believe I have to change the seal, I've got oil leaking out the top I can feel it but have not removed the tank or the plastic to get a good look at it. Sorry I'm going tohave to miss MIXXT, This sux cause its only 3 hours away  I'll let ya know what happens after i fix it.
  15. Thanx Jason, but I'll go with Nik's solution.
