  1. I am trying to replace my chain but I cannot find a master link on the chain that is on the bike now so that i can unlink the chain. Every link and the pin heads on every link look identical (every one has the squared appearance rather than the oval head i would expect for the master link). There is a DID 50 ZVS on it now and am going to put a 50 ZVM on it. I think the chain on it now is the stock chain. Is this an endless chain? So do I have to remove my swingarm? Also, the master link on my new 50 ZVM chain didn't come with a clip that I thought was supposed to come with it to keep the removable side plate on: My master link only has the sideplate with fitted pins, 4 O-rings and the removable side plate. -Chris
  2. The idle on my 98 is 1400 rpm's. I have never had a problem starting it unless something was messed up as long as I choke it when it is cold.
  3. I think it will fit. The stock header will interchange between the carbed and FI models, but the pipes lign up differently so there is a noticable change between smooth power increase throughout the rpm range with the FI header and higher top end in the carbed header. Might want to have someone else confirm that though.
  4. this last saturday night I burned about exactly one tank (or one fillup - around 5 gallons) of gas and got only 160 miles out of it. Of course 90% of the riding was tripple digits and maybe a third of that riding was 125+. The fun handle got a lot of attention that night. I usually get close to 200 miles for a 4.5 gallon fillup.
  5. looks like an Erion can. I recommend Erion too, especially if you have a BLACKbird. They look and sound sooo good. Of course, I am into the dual slip-on's look, so I have the Erion slip-ons 8)
  6. I don't get too much heat coming out of my tank, but I get a loooot coming from right under my ass near the battery right next to the tank.
  7. I got my rear tire changed with a new pilot road with rim still on the bike for $160.
  8. True but if you could just throw a set of RR forks off ebay on the Bird, you could probably do it for pretty cheap. But im guessing you can't just mount the forks on the bird without spending money on some modifications??
  9. That is the longest sentence i have ever read in my life
  10. I'd be more interested if the forks were inverted and adjustable. Are there any bike models that have inverted forks that could be installed on the bird?
  11. I've been interested in making my own stickers and i just traced a rudimentary xx logo. I made this a vector graphic so i can give it to you in any size you want and it won't look pixelated. 3000x1500 pixel copy: http://www.veracitystudios.com/other/xx_logo.gif
  12. you could just pull it off and put it back on whenever you need it. Sure is a bitch to put back on though with all the spring action and trying to center it to get the left side bolt in there though. 8)
  13. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...4553677276&rd=1 If you got a black one and can't find anything wrong with this one (looks to be in really good condition), i'd go for it. Then subsequently sell that headlight. That headlight itself will probably sell for between 200 and 300+, so your likely to get all or most of your money back. edit - looks like it isn't to an 03', but its black. But if you wanted to, you could probably get it repainted anyways and still save loads of cash 8)
  14. Never fear! Patch is here!
  15. Doesn't the heat transfer away from the engine via conduction+convection of the air around it? How well does it insulate against that type of heat transfer?
  16. payed about $29 for 4 quarts of oil and filter, they also did some quick work on my XX for free so I am satisfied. Maybe I'll go wal-mart next time around though
  17. ok got the new oil filter and oil. Bought them at a honda shop around here. But they gave me GN4 SAE 10W-40 SJ oil. Is this what I want in my 22k miles bird?
  18. is it all a drain access problem, or is it that all the oil will not come out if I use the sidestand?
  19. ok damnit, I wasn't planning on changing my oil until today or tomorrow (ie, after I installed the custom exhaust) and I had to get rid of my center stand.. Any recommendations on how I should stand the XX when draining oil? I don't suppose leaving it on the sidestand would be ok..?
  20. do you guys order them online or go to a Honda dealer or what? My local honda dealer does not service motorcycles? hm.
  21. i have a pilot sport front and a pilot road rear. no problems.
  22. I got a new pilot road mounted saturday for only $157 (cost of tire, labor, tax, and state tire fee). Unfortunately they scraped off some of the stock black paint on my rim!
  23. Im going to give my bird an oil change. From reading around the board, im thinking 10w-50 Mobile Gold Cap? Also where do you guys get your oil filters? Any recommendations? Hopefully I won't fuck this one up
  24. You should see power gains if anything (er. well, you might not notice it as it is pretty minimal). I've never heard of power decreases due to slip-ons like two bros..? Also, two bros pipes sound awesome on the XX, especially the carbon fibre C2 or C4 (or is it C5?) cans. Hows Africa?
