  1. Considering it is under warranty, file a report/complaint with Honda customer service (dealership #1 does not want to do warranty repair). Also, let the shop know what you think of them and what you are doing about it (one of the sales guys tried to screw me over, I would have teared his head off). Second-look tank skin  , but that does not draw much. My bike is stock. Hugo
  2. Actually the dead R/R is an easy test, if the voltage does not go up when revving up, it's easy. The funny part is when the voltage does go up but not enough when loaded (fan + high beam). I suspect the alternator not being its own self, but at this point it could be an excessive draw. I wanted to start playing with the fuses when the 'fuck it, extended warranty' concept hit me. Hugo
  3. I've never dealt with that shop. I bought it at San Mateo Honda (they suck). Had to go to Honda of Milpitas for a warranty repair (bad grounding). Now the bike is over two years old (02)/40kmiles but I have the extended warranty. Hugo
  4. Kinda same problem here (changed the faulty R/R last week, warranty), changed the battery and still having the battery drain when I ride. It's back in the shop and they do a good job (Honda Milpitas). If the first shop you talked about is Salinas MC, I've dealt with their sales dept once and they are liars/thieves. We'll see where that goes. Hugo
  5. Not sure if it has anything to do with the mishap but the 50vm is rated for 9700lbs of tensile strength whereas the 530 zvm is 10400. In any case, that sucks. Hugo
  6. Dash lights are fine. I figured the bulb related to the R/R, I took a trip to LA a couple of weeks ago and it probably died on my way back (got badly soaked, worst ever). All in all, I'd vouch for the extented warranty. Hugo
  7. Nope, and I was so upset I threatened them with buying a busa, then I realised that bulbs were the most reliable feature on a busa  Hugo
  8. Last week the low beam bulb died and so did the rectifier/regulator. While it was at the shop, I also called the warranty on the CCT. God bless extended warranties  Hugo PS: 02 model , 43K miles, CCT noise has been around for a while now.
  9. I would not go with the 010 front (they didn't last more than the 010 rear in my experience 2500-3000 miles max). Hugo

    tyres again

Personally, I would not mix brands (are the profiles compatible?), but that's just me. If you make sure that the stickier tire is in front, odds are that you should be OK (at the safely level). That said, expect shit to happen coz nobody ever tested that mix. Under the 'right' conditions, mixing tires cand send you bouncing down the road. My attachment to a BT57 front once almost cost me dearly (tankslapped at 130). Hugo
  11. Seriously, thinking like that can get you hurt. Your mind should be on what your doing, not some worst case scenario. I've never had a serious crash, so I can't give you any experienced advice, but taking (or re-taking) the MSF's experienced rider course would probably help, or even a track school. Two years is a long time. Just my $.02, feel free to tell me to take a flying leap if I'm outta line  Ditto. Risk management is good when it does not take over your riding. Regaining confidence is critical (although, as Tim, I've never crashed hard so I don't know what it is to get back in the saddle). Hugo
  12. Just to add feedback: 3 *45 and 5*46 and no shake, ever. 38 Front/40 Rear. Hugo
  13. Depends on the speed, your willingness to 'clutch it and throttle management. Hugo
  14. They ejected. When I set them on the bike I assumed (I might have been wrong there  ) that the wind factor was not so bad and that they did not need to be extra secure (they were fine up to 130). I tied them to the rear pegs, which folded back. Felt a strong sideways push and saw them bouncing away in my mirrors. No biggie (besides the fact that it does not happen every day). I would still have hated to have to fix them on the spot as I was 800 miles away from home and in the middle of the freaking - AZ - desert. I'll buy another - identical - set soon. Hugo
  15. I can vouch for the 'take off' part. Hugo
  16. The bags were doing 150, officer, I was doing 65 :?: . They passed me. Hugo
  17. Most of the shots hardly show any damage (a hole here and there and some 'resurfacing'), so I did not put them up. After the drop, I put the bags back on the bike and they were good for the 800 miles left in the ride. They are still useable but there is a tear near one of the side mounts so they are officially retired. Considering the speed, I think they (Nelson Rigg Sphare) qualify as 'tough'. Hugo
  18. Just one thing though, explore the limits one step at a time because no matter what the manufacturer says (about compatible profile), what I say, etc, you are in uncharted territory. Hugo
  19. As long as the stickier tire is in front, it's worth a shot. Hugo
  20. Gauge cluster after 9kmiles. Not that there was anything wrong with it but the moronic dealer could not diagnose a grounding issue. The problem got fixed later on but, hey the gauge cluster was changed... Hugo
  21. If there is one thing you can be anal about, it's TP  ! Hugo
  22. Anyway, I used to work on steel mostly and it differed from what - I know of - woodwork in the following areas: Cutting tools linear speed (and progression) and positioning are critical (you basically have to use diagrams - until experience kicks in, I guess - that will establish the tools speed for a given tool/cut material). Metrology and knowledge of manufacturing/size standards are paramount (otherwise you'll be stranded with shit that no bearing will fit, adjustments that do not match the final use etc.). I wish I had the references to that in English but I don't. There is one thing I liked about it: shaving several milimeters of steel at a time (grunt). AWESOME POWER. Hugo
  23. I overlooked the S&M part, I am getting old. Hugo
  24. Carlos, Are you refering to this http://www.usedmachinerysales.com/picture/1728.html vs this http://www.usedmachinerysales.com/picture/1772.html I did a year of metal shop (18 years ago - fuck I am getting old). Just trying to make sure about the terms. Hugo
