  1. I like the sound of the carbs. When you open it up under a load, you can almost hear your money sucking down the barrels. No petcock, hmmm. My FI Turbo had one. Oh well.
  2. I just jump up and down on the wrench  .
  3. Welcome aboard Eddie, The "fighting for fuel" issue may be the classic petcock assembly issue we've been seeing (this may also explain a rough idle). It appears that some of the petcocks may have damaged/defective diaphrams in them. The only way to tell is to take the damn thing apart and examine it for defects. If you need a replacement, you have to buy the whole assembly (pricey... get the dealer to replace it). While you have the gas tank off, this would be a good time to pull the plugs and chek their color (good = light brown). This will give you an idea how the cylinders are running. My 2 cents.
  4. This is just plain pathetic. To view, right-click and select Save Target As... http://www.helmetcamera.com/images/crash1.mpg
  5. RonAyers has it a little cheaper. Most importantly, it seems that the original part (16950-MAT-003) was replaced by a newer one 16950-MBB-003 at $107.81. http://www.ronayers.com/browseparts.cfm?se...g=16950-MBB-003
  6. Geez, for 90-115 bucks, can't you just get a mechanic to calibrate it. Or does it not work that way on bikes?
  7. I am by no mean a great mechanic (usually break more than i fix), but wasn't it mentioned that the birds have a bad voltage regulator? Put a volometer on it and see what she says ($15 buck at Radio Shack).
  8. Ooohhh more toys... more toys...
  9. Second that... and Shutting off the choke after a couple of minutes.
  10. Everyone must be packing for the Cody trip. Send us pic's guys! PLEASE!!! Ride Safe and watch out  for the "Big Blue Meanies".

    K & N Filter?

Not my '97. With the dual Micron CF's, K&N, and Dyno'd.... I got a total of 150 horses.
  12. I have a '97 Bird. She's sensitive at low revs too. The Bird doesn't like to be babied. Keep the rev's up a little (above 3.5k rpm) and she's happy (less jerky). Otherwise, get use to working out that left hand to smoother her out.
  13. I second Rockme's suggestions. Here's what I did. I use aftermarket beveled footpegs (1/2" gain), and a corbin gunfighter/lady (1 in. or so... very comfy seat). It doesn't sound like much, but it made a noticable difference. Good luck. Ps. Stretching really well before a ride helps alot.
  14. :twak: Wake up! Too funny. Shit like that happens to me all the time. Hey, at least you figured it out  .
  15. I have a LP, ZG DB (not ST model) and a Chettah. None are very good at blocking the wind. I like the looks of the ZG DB on the bike though. I hear good things about the Givi. Good luck.

    NOISE IN MY FORKS

I have the RaceTech springs and valving on my bird too. Mine is a little noisy, but I think it's a normal sound. It make a kina wishhhing sound.
  22. I'll never look at a nipple the same way again  .
  23. Second that. Take'm to a shop. It's well worth the dollars. Polishing is a real bear! ...and I know, check out my pics in the Member and Pics area.
  24. No tank bra here... No problems with heat on my '97.
  25. Thanks guys. It's comforting knowing that this mistake could be considered a common mistake (stupid though). I have never seen a carbed motorcycle that needed a vacuum line to release any gas at all from the petcock valve. Live and learn I guess. That bird is sure heavy. Going to sleep like a baby tonight.
