  1. If it doesn't work out my 99 stock seat is collecting dust now that I have a Corbin. I'm out in Z-hills and could let you borrow mine. I'd need it back at some point in case I ever sell the bike, but I don't see that happeing anytime soon.
  2. Make him an offer anyway. I don't think is DESPERATE yet, but he is reasonable and understands times are tough for most. Mileage is 48k I think... I'm guessing he didn't list it because your average squid will think its high, but Honda/1100xx guys know its nothing when maintained.
  3. Bumping for a local rider in need. Plus added the listing for the bike. He had the XX sold and the guy showed up with a couple hundred less than agreed after already haggling the price way down.
  4. I used White Buffalo Racing for the chain. Just came in yesterday. Think it was $130ish before shipping. Sprocket... I stuck with OEM from the local Honda dealer, $60. Should have used Ron Ayer and it would have been cheaper. Oh well, support local businesses and all....
  5. As far as I know the X-11 and RF-1000 are XL and the suit is Size 50. Looks like he need to update the X11 ad but the others have sizes. I'll pass it on.
  6. Not mine, Posting for a local guy that has been hit hard financially and HAS to sell his 00 Bird. I purchased his Corbin seat and bags today (bike still has a Corbin Smuggler). Nice guy to deal with so I thought I would help out and pass along some good deals. Some nice gear but all to large for me. XX is well maintained with some minor cosmetics. He is motivated to sell and will work with prices. 2000 XX http://orlando.craigslist.org/mcy/1084592525.html SHOEI X11 NORRICK ABE LIMITED EDITION http://orlando.craigslist.org/mcy/1084607290.html RF-1000 http://orlando.craigslist.org/mcy/1084611853.html NEW TEKNIC RACING SUIT AND GLOVES http://orlando.craigslist.org/mcy/1084601380.html
  7. OK, so the bird is leaking oil…. I figure I didn’t tighten the CCT enough or something because the oil ‘stains’ on the tire are only on the right side. ACK!! Anyway, pulled the panel and sure as shit, oil everywhere. Surprisingly the CCT was in there pretty good, I only got about ¼ turn on each. But, I noticed the bolt and washer that go in the top are gone. And it looks like there is oil in the threads where the bolt and washer use to be. I can’t find the old one, but is it possible for it to spit oil out the top? Why else would you need to seal off the top? Anyway, anyone know what size it is? I found the washer inside the bike, but no sign of the bolt. Maybe I’ll just stuff something in there to seal it up… Or do I have oil coming from someplace else? I can't feel anything oily above the CCT, but I did do the plugs and air filter not to long ago and I'm hoping nothing got screwed up. Thanks
  8. Thats awesome. Count me in for stuff as well.... And if you need a local test subject?!?! heheh Keeps us up to speed. I'd love the see the Black chrome. If it looks anything like the "ROH" and "Simmons" wheels I can't afford I'll be in love. You take credit cards?
  9. OK, I figured I would post my findings for anyone that helped and/or might care. I adjusted the chain per the manual I downloaded (thanks for hosting that). So my second ride went MUCH better. Nice and smooth. With the exception of the really slower 1-2 grand 1st/2nd gear stuff all is much better. Need to work on my gear matching alittle but at least it isn’t as scary as it was with the loose chain. I took quite a bit of slack out of it. Also noticed brake pads are my next task… as in there isn’t any left on the back… and the front is close. Thanks for the help. Jason
  10. Thanks guys, I'm sure alot of it is me needing a little saddle time. It is a big upgrade in power, FI is probably a bit more reponsive than the "volume control" on the old bike. I'm going to use it to commute, so it will see some slow stuff (oh well, what can you do). I'll try to useing the brakes to smooth it out some. I was doing fairly well with just clutch work towards the end... but your right, I basically riding it in most of the time in order to stays smooth. Just playing around and giving myslef time to get use to it... but for some reason I don't remember being this jerky on the 97 I rode. OK, found Carlos's write ups on plug, filter and oil. Nice! How about the chain adjust... anything special to be aware of? Anyone now how where to order service man or owners man? I'm guessing my local Honda dealer could order it, anywhere cheaper? Rockmeup, I'm 27. But my bro had a 68? Road runner with a 383 in it. But that was 86 or so and I was just a youngin. (edit... just looked at the not auto thread. heheh Good thing I have a burner and highspeed at work. )
  11. Friggin figures…. My second post would have to be a tech one. I just picked up my 1999 bird. It has 8k on it… so I take it out for a nice leisure crawl around the block (for those that never read my 1st post, I’m coming from a HD and this is my 2nd bike, so I’m going slow). I noticed it seemed a little jerky (figure it’s me getting used to a higher compression bike with 6 gears). Get back into the garage and start looking at the chain…. Is it normal to have about 2+ inches of deflection??? I’m thinking no, my HD was spec’d at ¾ to 1 before adjustment needed. The chain will touch both the chain guard and center stand if I tug it, so this has got to be way overdue for an adjustment. So the plan is new filter, plugs and oil plus the chain adjust. Does anyone know where to find the info for this online or a link to buy a service manual and an owner manual. I really wouldn't mind having a copy of each. Thanks, Jason
