  1. Thanks for that, I will try that link you gave me to see if i can get any information on it Chris
  2. I was looking at my mates 2000 model fireblade as it refuses to start, We found that the plugs are sparking ok which made me then start looking at the fuel side. I then checked all of the fuses because i realised that when the ignition is turned on there is no sound from the fuel pump like you get on the Blackbird. All the fuses seem to be ok so i then checked the fuel injection relay and found that there wasn't a 12volt reading from any of the terminals which i found strange. Does anyone know where it gets its supply voltage from as the wire dissapears into the wireing loom making it hard to trace. Can anyone help? cheers Chris
  3. I must admit i was suprised of the poor fit, i bought a powerbronze for my previous bike and it went on straight away which made me go for that make for the blackbird. All of the instructions and the label on the hugger itself says its for a "CBR1100XX" i suppose something could have gone pearshaped at the factory with the labeling. After looking at the forum it seems most of you rate the Pyramid ones for fit and quality so i think i will look at getting one. Chris
  4. Tipi

    Bad rotors?

I had the same problem with my b/bird and whilst it was in for a service the mechanic told me the rear rotor was warped, apparently he said it is a common fault on the blackbird that moisture gets between the wheel and rotor which causes corrosion which in turn pushes the rotor out causing it to warp. He fitted me a EBC one which costs about £80. Chris
  5. I have just bought a powerbronze hugger for my bird and was amazed that the fit was nowhere near. When it was bolted on i found that the chain guard side of the hugger was pressing hard on the tyre wall and the otherside was about 3 inches away from the tyre, i looked to see if there was any adjustment to solve this but to no avail. I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem with this make, also can anyone tell me what make i should buy which i can rely on a perfect fit. Many Thanks Chris
  6. Thanks for that Sean...i will look into it Chris
  7. As a newbie to the forum i would like to add a picture of my bike so it appears under my name etc. I have it scanned in and saved on my pc but can't seem to add it in my profile. Can anyone help?? Cheers Chris
  8. Thanks for all the info,i took the bike into my local Honda dealer for the 12k service and asked them to check it out for me. They got back to me and said the rear disk has got a high spot so they are going to fit me an EBC replacement rotor for about £90. All been well i should be able to brake without my teeth chattering!! Chris
  9. Thanks for that, yep i forgot to mention the year of my bird, it is a 99 1100xx-x model, i must admit that those pictures of the screens which some of you guys have fitted look quite tasty, i better start looking into where my nearest supplier is. Chris
  10. Hi All, As a newbie to the forum and also the bike i am looking now at replacing the front screen for a double bubble type and was wondering if anyone could advise me on which make to go for. I have been looking at the Zero Gravity ones and also Pyramid ones just to mention a couple but can't decide which ones are the best. Chris
  11. Thanks for that Mick about the rear wheel possibly out of align, this i asume is alterd with the chain adjusters. Chris
  12. I am wanting to fit a pair of the bobbin type mushrooms to my XX and was wondering if anyone can tell me the best ones to go for, ideally i don't wan to start cutting holes in the panels for them. I seem to think there are some which fasten on to the top fairing allen bolt but don't know where i can get them. Chris
  13. When i took the old pads out there was no seperate shim, they were just like the new ones (EBC HH) i.e on the back of the pads there is what seems to be a crimped on plate with lots of round holes in,so i put them in as they were. Something i did notice today was that when the bike was on the centre stand i spun the rear wheel and there was an intermittent squeek as a certain part of the rotor went between the pads. If it looks like i have a warped rotor can anyone advise what make of replacement i should get and the best place to obtain one,and an approximate price. Chris
  14. Thanks for that scott, i will look into checking the disk out. The thing i can't understand is that when i brake hard with the front lever it is perfect and the bike comes to a halt very quick without any vibes, you would think that with the LBS you'd still get it if the rear disk was out of true? chris
  15. Thanks for that Warchild, when i got the bike i didnt' notice the problem as bad but on inspecting the rear pads found that they were nearly on the limit,i checked the fronts at the same time and found the front left ones had wore uneven but from what i have seen on the forum this is normal. I decided to replace all of the pads and put EBC HH all round. After removing the pads i sprayed the insides of the calipers with brake cleaner but i must admit i didn't spray the rotars. I have noticed that the vibration seems to be more noticeable since changing the pads. I have covered about 200miles since changing them so i assume they will have bedded in.What i have noticed is that for the first few miles it dosn't seem to be there,as if it comes in when they become warmed up. Chris
