  1. okay I'm the ass, the new galfers are just maybe biting hard on the front.... Cheers mate TC
  2. Okay I changed pads today on the Bird, no sweat installed the galfers all round . But.....questions 1. What about the metal shim plates should they be reinstalled – I did 2. What about the rear set had metal plate and plastic spacer, I left out the plastic spacer. Brakes worked fine except that the handlebar lever no long applies the rear brake, not even slighty The pedal does activate front and rear. I accomplished what some seem to really want to do but I liked the linked brakes and would like them to function as they were. I'm hoping bleeding will resolve this although can't really explain how this would unless crud got squeezed back into PCV maybe its been buggered by reverse pressure- seems hoepfully unlikely Thoughts on this would be greatly received. Cheers TC
  3. talked to SW moto's they said call michelin who were very good about sorting it out... Talked to Michelin about pilot sports they looked up DOTs said they came from different factories, one left the silicone release agent on the tire other scrubbed it off so looks less “slick” they said in time they look the same, (both equally knackered, worn out and needing replaced no doubt) Not sure if having a silicone residue on the tires fills me with joy but as long as the rubber is there when its needed. TC Was running the pilot sport hpx's before the roofers nail got me, actually it was a carpenters screw, I'm certain of it.
  4. do you just need a chunk from each one or the whole tire....? TC
  5. Hi Folks I just got a set of new Pilot sports from SW moto from different locations, the front tire appears to be made from a different compound from the rear. The rear being more plastic like in finish compared with the front which is more rubber, the inner linning is dappled on the front thousands of little circles the rear is smooth again plastic finish inside. There website talks about the rear being made as below. "The rear tire features Michelin's patented Radial Delta carcass design which combines the adhesion of a racing slick with the stability necessary for road riding. Tread compound is derived from silica-based rubber mixes found in Michelin's racing rain tires. Z rated, tubeless design." Still seems unusual that two tires seem so different in material when new, what say ye who know more.... Cheers TC
  6. Okay I searched for this and came up with reference to "leather cream" What are folks using to keep that leather form looking dried out and at the same time preventing it developing the friction coefficient of ice on glass..... I see the manufacturer sell some but what can I nip out and buy locally....? Cheers TC
  7. Sorry Folks I went with the Maxon Spring is has a1/2 inch solid collar/spacer at the narrow end of the spring to allow proper seating, certailny looks hefty I'll let you know.
  8. I took on a project at the request of my delightful pillion for more leg room..... no complaints I had an idea to help her, adapt the previously described lowered rider pegs as described by joe here http://pub59.ezboard.com/fcbr1100xxownerso...picID=415.topic So I got the pegs, Super Pole V-360 K Pegs -Silver 60 bucks, machined them with an angle grinder to fit the slightly narrower rear bracket Sorry folks all the links are broken from Yahoo they worked for a day?? But view them here http://photos.yahoo.com/tcwsu Made some packing shims from washers and fitted them to make tight They did the job lowered the peg height by about 1 inch the finished event..... The project was a nice job the pegs are fixed in position they do not retract but can be easily unbolted with quick allen key action. However ...... she didnt like how they looked !!!!! .............the bird went back to stock. Check the FOR SALE section thats where they are now, home made Shims and and all !! http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forum/viewtopic.p...p?p=52015#52015 (they could also still be fitted in riders location with a small washer for a shim.)
  9. Hey if you spend all day chopping up hot Fireblades what times left for emails.....?
  10. Dosx Hey thats my actual shock in the bottom picture- its a MWO-003 for certain I agree lots of those ebay adds say they will fit all years but the later shocks are about an inch shorter, 11 5/8 eye to eye instead of 12 5/8. the one in the top picture says 96 on the tag I asked the sellers to read the part numbers before bidding or offering them side deals, some of them the stickers are gone so measured the length. I'm in for a spring here, and now if its going to be later I'll pick up a lighter spring in Uk 16.5 and have it a back up in case the 16.8 is too hard. TC
  11. Okay here's the news Maxton can make the springs to whatever spring rate you want if they are not in stock production time is 1 week, they cost 55 pounds plus 17.5% VAT ( there maybe possibility of return on that although I dont have permanent US status, just non resident alien, so harder to prove, also usually have ot carry this stuff on plane if you want VAT refund at Customs to be processed.) Total cost then including VAT (TAX) $100- They said be-aware the spring is generic dimensions but customs spring rates, so there is a spacer for Honda shocks to allow seating of spring and correct length which is not present on original honda springs. They sounded like good guys and helpful and if purchased in the UK would, have no worries making the sale to us. As far as getting them back to US, what is the weight of one of these springs ? There will be a limit to my luggage weight. Okay open for discussion, as no saving on Swapnuts springs, and not custom dimensions either, and would be easier to get them here. UK advantage is custom spring rates. Hope this doesnt throw a spanner in the works as we were getting close to a resolution.
  12. I sen email and left phone messages no response as of yet I'll keep you posted. TC
  13. I emailed again and asked about one guy buying them within the UK no questions asked about US buddies bouncing on there springs trying to get them sued over here, we'll see......... The rest of the world fears US litigation, my Mum worked for a company making hi -tech kids wheel chairs in the UK, they could control them with eye movement or tongue depending on how impaired they were. The chairs were built by disabled people, ( a real heartbreak story, prepare) US health companies wanted chairs for kids in US, so they agreed on a deal, it got too busy work was delayed by the disabled people they could not keep up, so one day US lawyers shut them down froze assets and they were out of business no more chairs, no more disable folks jobs just fat lawyers and sad kids!
