  1. How about just doing the air filter and leave the plugs until you put it in to have the shims checked. Platinum plugs last a long time. Agreed, brilliant bike, does everything so well. I think sales dropped off in the States once the Hybusa came out and had higher top speed, They kept selling over here in oz, we got them until 2007.
  2. some nice preloved forks, worth keeping an eye on the duc and ape forums http://www.ducati.ms/forums/129-parts-accessories/637810-fs-ohlins-fg-511-forks-mint-condition.html#post6231562
  3. I'd go black ohlins forks and black spring on the rear shock but then i like understated.
  4. these guys make nice triples http://www.ima-specialparts.com/eng/TripleClamps
  5. If you want to go brembo/ohlins this guy might be able to help. http://www.shop.kyleusa.com/main.sc
  6. What's he trying to achieve? He might be better off just getting a blackbird and put a 6mm spacer under the rear shock.
  7. Just thinking, how about pouring kero out of frame through a white rag so you can see how much sand is coming out, repeat until no more comes out.
  8. can't imagine it being a big deal, flush with kero or petrol really well, then oil to get the kero out. Then run it for a short ride and change the oil.
  9. Welcome aboard. What's a C&S? Do we have a sidestand light? i don't recall seeing one
  10. thanks, i'll give it a try. Sorry to sidetrack your thread Dotetcher
  11. that's how i do it too, too easy, i even get a syringe and remove most of the old stuff from the master and top up with clean stuff first. is there an easy way to get the clutch master level so i can bleed it?
  12. my 06 seems to have less torque from new than my 99, i rode an 05 for a day and it had more than both, a friend rode my 06 and and another 06 and said mine was down on power, last service they asked me if i bought it second hand cause it seemed to have a lot more miles on it than shown. I've had it since new and put it down to not running it in hard enough. Bothered me for a long time but at accelerating from 7k and 100mph it's hard to hang on to so i'm happy.
  13. indicated i think since gps wasn't common place back then. Yes definitely no indication, i was trying to make a positive contribution i don't think it's possible without a turbo.
  14. My old mechanic was talking up regrinding the exhaust cam, he built a blackbird with the exhaust reground, power commander, 4 into 1 and high comp. pistons, said it did power wheelies at 120mp/h.
  15. i can't think of anything that would go out of balance on your engine all of a sudden, could it be speed related? wheels, bearings, chain and sprockets all ok?
  16. so it's rev related not throttle position? On my old duc after a dodgy service, which left the carbs unbalanced, it was rough and down on power down low but as i opened up the throttle it would smooth out as minor differences didn't matter so much, if that makes sense.
  17. i didn't think we had rubber engine mounts. anyway back to the original problem, carbies need balancing maybe, does it get better or worse as you open the throttle?
  18. Are you pulling it back to the same mark each time or further and further back? Do you still have the red/green wear indicator sticker on your swingarm? i thought it was a joke when i first saw it but it's spot on, that's all the chain should stretch in it's life. What size chain is it and is the rear sprocket steel?
  19. + all of the above. What brand and model chain is it? How much was it? I go with the most expensive DID. I think i adjusted my last chain on the brackbird twice in 40,000km. Are you keeping it lubed?

    Voltmeter

did they set it so low so it doesn't go off every time you're idling?
