Brake question...not the normal type...
The Krypt Keeper replied to Squareman357's topic in The Garage
I need to replace my brake pads, if not this riding season will surely change them this winter when my bike goes down for Preventive Maintance 101. -
with it just being the clear coat scuffed you might be able to get away with some Mequires scratch remover, or if it comes down too it find you some 2000 grit sand paper and wet sand the spot really really really gently.. Then buff it up with some good wax... If that don't work just cover it with a sticker or something

is it my monitor or is the bike purple

I was curious about chains today, I will be needing to replace mine after this riding season.. I have the stock DID chain. Anyone recommend a replacment chain. How many links is the chain, still using the same size sprockets as stock? Also will be needing a chain pressing tool, how much are they and where can you get them from? as for getting the old chain off I got a angle grinder, plasma cutter, Remington 870 12 guage handy so that shouldn't offer much a problem.

they actually make a motor flush for cars. I wouldn't recommend it for bikes, but my bro-in-law would use it on a every used vehicle his bought..

Depends on if you use chain wax or other lubes for your chain. Also depending on if your chain is warm or cold. I might check this out this evening when I get home from work. I use chain wax and clean my chain every 600 to 800 miles if not sooner.

Oil change ?: Updated, new Q's, please check :)
The Krypt Keeper replied to Animal Mother's topic in The Garage
I bought one of them cap wrenches that you use with a 3/8" rachet. But can't use cause of clearnace with my pipes. Been sitting in my tool box ever since  I now use one of them rubber strap wrenches. Tighten by hand till the filter gasket (coated with oil) touches and use the wrench to make the final quarter turn. Makes removal a snap also  -

I got the 600 mile service done, and haven't been back to the dealership since. Buddy takes his bike there everytime, and gets ass fucked for $120 for a damn oil change  My filter was put on by king kong himself. Had to jab a screw driver through it.. -
Chroming really doesn't add as much weight as you think. Chrome might just weight a few grams more than powder coating. I know the stock rims weigh a friggen ton. I have seriously looked at getting some aftermarket rims. But they aren't cheap. I would love to have some RC Daytona's or Talledaga's Maybe even some OZ racing wheels in pretty silver

pretty good read.. some tips for you.. go to harbor freight and buy a bike tire changer.. and a balancer... can pick both up for around a $100. Plus you already got the spoons. I can have my front wheel off my bike in 10 minutes easy.. taking calipers off, fender and lossening pinch bolts, and then the axle, and there she is..

with original chain.. chain breaker or a angle grinder also works wonders  To put back on it will either have a master link clip, or will have solid side plates and you will need a compression tool that will push the plates together on the pins... its been a long day the exact name slips my mind right now.. more than likely you will have a master link with it. it will be cut to length and you will just have to break the old one, or do the quicker way with the angle grinder.

Well after all the problems I had with my Avon 45 ST, I finally got my new front that Avon sent me. I decided to go with a AV49 SP, and will change my rear to a AV50 SP as soon as I finish off my AV46 ST. I had it changed yesterday, and no weight was needed to balance it. (don't care to clean around weights anyways) Did the test ride on it today. Bike is smooth as silk, just like the day I bought her. I gave her a few miles scrubbing her in, and then let that bitch eat corners. As soon as I threw her over into the corners she leaned over so easy I was blown away.. The profile of the tire is more pointy and just falls into the corners. So far I am very happy with the feel. I no longer have any head shake, and the bike just feels great when leaned over. Unlike my AV45 ST where I was getting shakes in the straights and corners. I will sacrifice tire wear for this great feeling anyday of the week and twice on Sunday

Call me dumb, but how do you remove it?
-
Just tell the shop about the tire and avon picking up the bill and they send the tire changing bill to them?
-
I got my new front tire today. (well last week actually but no one told me it was in) I normally just rip off the the little package list thingy. I opened it and found a UPS sticker already to go, to send my front tire back to Avon. It will be several weeks before I can actually get to a shop and get my tires swapped out. Has anyone ever sent their tires back to Avon? I know it will be good to send it too them to let them look at it and see whats wrong with it. I was already at the trash can to throw it away, when I though about getting whatever as proof that I did recieve my new replacement tire..

Things to inspect before 4000mile trip?
The Krypt Keeper replied to silverbird1100's topic in The Garage
We were on the border of NC and Va off the Blue Ridge Parkway, and had very good signal.. But my phones battery was almost dead on the way down cause it was searching for a signal so much.. Phone card not a bad idea... *** if you plan on using your credit card to pay for gas and stuff you might wanna call them to let them know your going on a trip*** Have heard of people traveling and getting there card turned down cause they CC company thought it was stolen from alot of small purchaces across several states. -

I took alittle trip a couple weekends ago.. had planned on maybe a 1,000 miles but was cut short to 750, we stayed the night still. packed into my Oxford pannier saddle bags got pants, shirts, socks, drawers  cell phone and charger, 2 maps, common tools plus my Honda tool kit, air gauge, air chuck, wallet, check book, sunglasses, spare visor, shampoo, soap, tooth paste and tooth brush, comb, Honda Racing hat, Windex wipes, anti fog spray, chewing gum, camera, binoculars, (came in handy a couple times) cable lock, Buck knife tool, copy of Cycle World for late night reading, and probably some other crap I have forgotten about. Also taking a first aid kit, and tire kit is also smart to take. Buddy had them in his tank bag. -
why is the center stand useless?
-
Something must be wrong with it if they only want $2900 for it.. Sounds like a scam to me

I don't feel so bad now
