  1. My brother put a car horn on his Suzi RF900. We were side-by-side at a light, I beeped at him, and he BEEEEEEEPED back at me! Scared the $hit out of me! It was funny...for him...
  2. Thanks for the feedback. I found some high heat Dynomat (sound absorption material) that is foil-faced. That should do the trick. Thanks again
  3. Is there a heat shield that goes between the header and the right lower fairing? What about foil sheeting on the plastic? Before I painted my bike I noticed that the right lower fairing got hot enough to affect the paint. I do not want this to happen again. Thanks..
  4. They can be found here anf there, but they are usually expensive. I was just curious to the handling characteristics between 57's and other types of sport touring tires. Guess I'll keep reading, then hang pics of tires on the wall, get blindfolded, then toss a dart to decide on my next set of tires! Robb
  5. Dumb question coming: Why doesn't anyone use the bt57? I know they are harder to find, but how do they compare in the grip dept compared to the other sport turing tires out there? (Avon 46, BT020, pilot road, etc..) I have a 98 with 7900 miles, and stock rear bt57 that I will be replacing any day now. I dunno which tire to use.....???? I want something that will last more than 3k miles, and not feel like a rock.
  6. Nothing to add here, but J Red....did you get your flashlight yet?' It was mailed monday. Robb
  7. Scorpions. Awesome sound! I thought they would be really loud, escpecially since you can see right through them, but they sound great. Plus the Carbon Fiber is super light. I will post pics when I can. Paint is almost done. Robb
  8. I think he means "HID look-a-like" bulbs on ebay. I for one, do not care about the "look" of HID lights. I am intersted in the performance of lights. That is why I am persuing the silverstar/Osram bulbs until I pony up for the HID kit Robb
  9. Plug and go. Same wattage as stock, but they put more light on road. Weird I know, but it works. Do a search and you'll see what I mean. I will run these until it is HID time. Robb
  10. Upon reading about these lights and how great they work, I looked into getting some for the bird. $40-50 a pair was the answer I got from most places. Then I turned to my favorite store, Ebay. Found them for $25/pr. Imagine Ebay being my one-stop shopping store. Here is a small list of bike related items purchased there: 1. First purchase on Ebay was a 1998 Honda CBR1100XX 2. Joe Rocket Speedway jacket 3. Icon super Duty gloves 4. OEM replacment muffler 5. Tail fairing 6. Scorpion CF slip ons 7. Today I picked up a K&N jet kit for $33 Not bad Eh? Robb
  11. AWESOME!! That what I call service. Birdie_XX, you are a gentleman and a scholar. I thank you again. Robb
  12. I am repainting my 98XX. Going from black to ...you guessed it...BLACK. It had some minor imperfections that needed to be corrected. Anyhow, my question is does anyone have the part #'s for the original graphics? I am putting the wings back on the tank, and the logos back on the sides. P.S. Will an Erion jet kit work well with Scorpion slip ons? Thanks Robb
  13. Do a search for chain replacement. You have to break the chain using a...um...chain breaker tool. You should be able to find the info by searching.
  14. Please explain how a lowering strap works up front. Does it just compress the forks? What is the benefit besides drag racing? (better launch) Where does the strap hook to?
  15. Thanks for the replys. Now one more question: is there any difference between the jet kits from K&N, Factory, Erion, or DynoJet? For example, would a Erion jet kit work with Scorpion exhaust, or just Erion? Thanks again Robb
  16. I have a 98 with stock air filter and Scorpion CF slip ons. I live in MI, not sure of elevation. Any jetting recommendations for this setup? I rode it today for a few miles, and there is a terrible soft spot in low to midrange. The it finally winds up and goes. This was a short ride, as the the XX was NAKED. This means no upper, headlight, fender, sides, or tail fairing, or windshield. If you want a good indicator of the XX's true power, lean on her with no fairings on the bike!! Wow Robb
  17. Hmm... www.streetfighters-usa.com still shows the Yosh RS3 Zyclone slip ons for $370. I called them a while back to confirm, and they said yes. Maybe they changed their mind. I can't wait to get my Scorpions fitted and hear them.
  18. HEH HEH... I see a 4" Autometer with shift light. Don't foget the boost guage!
  19. Chief...those pipes look sweet on your bike!! Good choice, and looks like the red matches quite well. How do they sound? Robb
  20. Sorry...I really wanted them. It was either those, or order a set of Yoshi slipons from streetfightersusa.com for 379. Since I read this review of the scorpions, I went this way. Oddly enough, after the auction ended, I went to a local shop and stubbled across a used XX with Yosh Zyclone slip ons. I have to say it sounded pretty awesome. Cant wait for warmer weather though! Robb
  21. Well I did pay 356 so thbtbtbhtbhtb  Anyway, I cannot disclose my employment details or involvment/lack thereof with the Phalanx system. And 7.62 is my favorite caliber. On a different note, my brother just installed his Micron flange on for his Suzuki RF900 and it sounds really nice. Hope those Scorpions sound as good!! edited for clarity Robb
  22. Does amyone run the stock bt57's anymore? If not, whats "wrong" with them? Just better tires available? I will need to change the rear soon, as was pondering just using the same as stock, but I dunno.
  23. Hello all! I have been lurking here for some time, just joined today. Seems like THE place for XX wisdom, and bench racing! Well...I am a libra, 6'2"...uh...sorry about that... I have a 98XX 6200 miles, all stock, just ordered a set of Scorpion slip ons in CF, cant wait for warmer weather!! Robb
  24. Nice looking pipes!! I just ordered a set in Carbon fiber, can't wait for them to get here. Can't wait for riding weather too!! Robb
