  1. I've had a Micron full system (race) for about 3 years. I like it even though it is a tad loud for my liking. 4 into 2 into 1. Works well with a PC2 which has been dyno tuned.
  2. If I wasn't quite as stupid I'd be a little smarter. I just came back in the house after changing the rear tire. Duh - the first time I put it on backwards. Got it all back together, the license plate back on and all and had alook at the tread. It was upside down. CRAP! Took it back off and turned the tire around. But anyway - - the brakes are a piece of cake with the rear wheel off. And I think the pistons, pads and the rotor are all pretty tough. I never felt in danger of scratching them. The flat blade screw is jsut a plug to gain access to the pin that screws in to hold one end of the pads. Like SufDaddy says. The tab slips easily into the slot at the other end. I just changed my tire (new tire off the rim, new tire on the right way) in about an hour. Add changing the pads - 15 minutes if you are slow. The onliest thing is, I bought new tire irons. They were a little rough and scratched the rim in a couple places. I guess my bike is an outside toy, not a show bike. I'll touch up the scratches and feel good about saving over a hundred dollars and I got the job done when I wanted - not waiting for an appointment and all that.
  3. OK I guess I'll try the roads. I can hardly wait 'till they get here. I'm grounded 'till I get new tires on.
  4. I ride to work so I spend a lot of time on the slab. I ran Michelin M90's on a previous bike and got lots of miles on each set of tires. I got off the XXX this morning and walked around the back and let a massive fart when I saw the rear is gone. It is time for a new set. What is the difference between the Macadam 100X and the Pilot Road? Looks like they have similar technology. Which one lasts longer in the center of the tire? fanx
  5. What weight oil did you have in there before? A 15W50 will make it run hotter than a 5W30. I don't know about that much hotter, though.
  6. And thanks to Rich for the WOT startup info. I've always wanted to do that and not known how. My old BMW k1 would crank with the side stand down but wouldn't start so you could load the filter and the whole oil path.
  7. Are the chassis grounds hard to find?
  8. Moly is not good for the clutch and teflon, like slik 50, is also a potential problem. But I bet you were more likely to have some rear wheel slippage at that speed. You have the power turned all the way up and the air is pushing on the front of the bike real hard. At 150 you don't even want to stick your hand out - you might not be strong enough to hold it. Air pushing on the front, rear tire pushing on the street. I don't know. My rear tires sure go away a lot faster over 150 than they do at 80 or 90.
  9. Mine's also a '99, no sensor. I put a Micron full system on (4 into 2 into 1). Dynoed it with a PC II at Fast Lane Cycles. It didn't show that much gain in hp or torque on the chart but I notice overall improvement, especially from about 4000 to 8000 rpm. I'm lazy, I don't often downshift. That's why I love the XX.
  10. Ya, Pete, that is kind of what I am thinking. My battery is 5 years old and I have kind of been lulled into laziness because the Honda is so bulletproof. It always starts very quickly and shows no other problems. So if I get a new battery in there and upgrade the piss horn, what is the best loud horn for the money? Where did you get the blaster, Krypto?
  11. My XX does a really silly thing. I discovered accidentally with my fat thumb trying to cancel the turn signal, I hit the horn button instead. I thought I felt the engine cut out for a split second. I tried it over and over and it seems very intermittent, but about once in 5 or 10 little beeps of the horn, the engine hesitates, just barely detectably. This would be at 70 or 80 mph (on a closed course by professional riders, don't try this at home) with even throttle, not accelerating or decelerating. It's a '99 (fuel injected) duh, beltwaybob
  12. Plus, in about 1998 or so Honda had to make the front brake lever thinner because wind resistance at 160+ mph would turn on the brake light. How fast were you guys going in that nice little group ride?
