  1. New glasses have at least improved things a lot. It seems likely that I'll just pay for the extras and run my chances on the basics with insurance. But also shopping around.
  2. Reminds me, what was the original point here?
  3. 1. Yes. 2. Yes. 3. The patients and the parents. Oh and teachers.
  4. They just don't. Nearly none will. And by nearly, apparently they mean none do. Also, does it change my decision? Should it?
  5. His case is well known and documented. He's become a case study for a lot of journals. Also my answer was really to the claim that just treating symptoms is bad.
  6. Insurance won't pre-authorize this. You get it done and hope for the best. How fucking retarded. I'm quoted $2538 per eye for basic. Plus about $3500 for an enhanced lens that will eliminate the astigmatism, and give mid-to-far clear vision. Not close. I'm not a strong candidate to remove glasses completely, outside of having two surgeries. One to get close, another to fix it based on the findings from that. Yah nah. I wonder if I should shop around. This place is clearly high end. What's the value? My optometrist, who I trust, says this is his top pick. Is the next best...10% less good? Also is there some specialist out there for my specific issue? Dunno. What to do.
  7. Even worse are the people NOT treated for the symptoms. My neighbor's kid exists in society only because he's significantly medicated for the symptoms which include some violence. 20 years ago they'd just lock him up as a criminal and keep him in solitary, which would be fucked up. All of the drugs he's on are generics, no big pharma conspiracy though. Sorry guys, nothing to see here, move along now. Our local police are trained on this, and more importantly, have shifted funding from cops to people who are useful for this. When called, a psych worker is first in, with guns as backup. Not run in with guns and start shooting. This is glaringly different from a few miles down the road where the other PD literally did that.
  8. OTOH, it's so nice to say, I need a bunch of weird-ass camera mounts and 30-60 minutes later...bam. Camera mounts.
  9. It reminds me, I need to nudge her towards switching from semaglutide to tirzepatide, she's being ripped off by a shitty med-spa now. But like cows, some people only move from constant pressure and reminders. Oops was that out loud? Yeah, ten minutes to either clear it, or see how to work around it. Dashcam on the Zero. It has...zero mounting spots that look good. I've spent too many hours making parts and still sketchy. I know there's math on the suspension movement, but sometimes just seeing it is better.
  10. I see claims that it is destructive because suspension isn't meant for constant compression, to "whatever." And then to find just the right spots for hooks. I truly look forward to Zero's strap expertise here.
  11. But...how...
  12. I am not qualified to have an opinion on this, just like everyone else here. I do have the opinion, based on data, that we can't really know.
  13. I love a conspiracy theory, but...name one med for autism.
  14. His driveway is now being tracked by satellites and got autism.
  15. It's the opposite, of course, we are better able to figure out non-obvious cases. Which should be obvious. If you care, and I'm guessing you don't, find the neuro-divergence podcasts from a few months ago by Allie Ward. Warning, she has real experts on instead of making shit up.
  16. Of course, actual experts are never right. Certainly it cannot be that we have more and better medical care as well as a wilingness to properly diagnose. Can't be.
  17. You do have to be retarded to watch or be involved with that shit, so that's concrete evidence.
  18. Yesterday a PB Blaster conversation struck up in my 3D world. High marks for surface rust removal and cleaning the sticky goo out of bicycle shifters.
  19. Yeah, for the first time in history, we've figured out that these aren't just "bad people," but there's a miswiring of the brain. Also I assume that everyone know that rates of diagnosis are more about our ability to diagnose it, than the incidence. I know this is obvious, but in our current anti-science culture, many are claiming the opposite.
  20. No, it is generally not safe or recommended to use Castrol Pyroplex grease as a sexual lubricant. While it might provide some lubrication, it's designed for mechanical applications, not intimate use, and could potentially be harmful. Here's why: Not designed for human contact: Castrol Pyroplex grease is formulated for industrial machinery, not for use on the body. Potential for irritation and infection: It's possible that using it could lead to irritation, discomfort, or even infection. Condom incompatibility: Oil-based lubricants like Castrol Pyroplex grease can degrade latex condoms, increasing the risk of breakage and reducing their effectiveness as a barrier against STIs and pregnancy, according to Healthline and WebMD. Other safer alternatives: There are many safe and effective sexual lubricants available, both water-based and silicone-based, that are specifically designed for intimate use and are safe to use with latex condoms. If you're looking for a lubricant, it's best to choose a product designed for sexual use, such as: Water-based lubricants: These are generally safe, compatible with latex condoms, and can be used with a variety of sex toys. Silicone-based lubricants: They offer a long-lasting slippery feel and are also generally safe to use with latex condoms, according to the AIDS Foundation of Chicago.
  21. You probably just need to grease some wheels.
  22. The ultimate would be Kroil, gear oil, acetone, and #9.
  23. I've done something right in my life, I haven't needed any of these in at least a decade, probably longer.
