  1. I did have one that was weeping, so I assume that meant either the seal had failed or the spring was soft.
  2. Full system cleaning and new distilled/coolant mix, for sure. Keep in mind the XX retains a lot of coolant and then needs to have the air well removed.
  3. I repeat that process regularly. "Why yes, of course I have an M6x1.0 mushroom head bolt in 316 that is precisely 16mm long." Oh, I did last week.
  4. So at this point, I guess I should toss these in the trash. Which is hard, parents taught me to be a hoarder. Which is why I fight it so hard.
  5. Is this the one with the crushed box? Shame, really. And...WTF...why?
  6. Despite a lower economic status, lower education, less access to healthcare, and higher smoking rates, hispanics in the US live longer. Well, until they acclimate to the Standard American Diet, then death starts to catch up. What is it? Likely food, such as beans, corn, rice, and peppers. The rate of bean consumption is vastly higher than whites, as well as other vegetables. Beans have been strongly associate with protection from heart disease and diabetes. https://nutritionfacts.org/video/the-hispanic-paradox-why-do-latinos-live-longer/ Do legumes—beans, chickpeas, split peas, and lentils—work only to prevent disease, or can they help treat and reverse it as well? https://nutritionfacts.org/2022/05/19/randomized-controlled-trials-of-beans/?utm_source=NutritionFacts.org&utm_campaign=dcde95f609-RSS_BLOG_DAILY&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_40f9e497d1-dcde95f609-28710906&mc_cid=dcde95f609&mc_eid=6bf37ade4d Randomized controlled interventional trials have found that dietary bean intake does significantly reduce bad LDL cholesterol levels. In fact, we’ve known that for more than half a century, dating back to 1962. You can see what happens at 2:11 in my video when you measure cholesterol levels at baseline, add beans to the diet, and then remove beans from the diet. The cholesterol content in blood serum goes down and back up. Beans also “have a low glycemic index and saturated fat content, and are high in fiber, potassium, and plant protein, each of which independently confers BP- [blood pressure-] lowering effects. Whether there is sufficient evidence to emphasize dietary pulses [beans] alone to lower BP, however, is unclear.” Therefore, what we need is a systematic review and meta-analysis of controlled feeding trials, and we got just that. What did the researchers find? Beans do indeed lower blood pressure no matter where you start out. And beans are easy to add into a daily diet. There are so many options.
  7. It's outside the environment. Last use was with the Jeep, now..... Make me a fair trade or something or whatever.
  8. Once you get clean, even a little junk feels obviously terrible. Last week Moriah decided to eat some local sodium/grease bomb food and I said fuck it and joined her. Ugh, bloated, tired, and my joints hurt the next day. This all feels "normal" when you eat the usual shit every day. Last night's "dessert" was some frozen berry/tropical mix in the bender with coconut-based milk substitute, small bit of honey, pile of inulin (which is not only a sweet buffer it's just pure fiber).
  9. Free, if you can use them. Rain proof cover, wall/ceiling mount with swivel. I might still have a camera or two also. Most have failed.
  10. I've done the tamales from normal medium ground masa, from fine ground corn flour, and with Hominy that I coarse ground in the food processor. All different and equally good. In Cuba, we don't make "tamales," which are objects, we make "tamal" which is a porridge type thing. Same ingredients, just stewed instead of steamed, and no corn husks. Really, it's just Hispanic Polenta (which is also awesome and easy to make as a whole food). Something from this list is going into the weekend plans.
  11. Huh, I should give that a whirl. The same masa can make tamales, and there are several substitutes for the parts that make them garbage, like the oil and salt. And roasted hatch chiles covered in corn...now I'm hungry.
  12. Indeed. And I'm not really understanding how it tastes "better" since beans and some light spices is so damn good anyway. I have to think that it's some sort of addiction thing that they have come up with. Some. There is a very monstrous variety between brands. Some have a mile long ingredient list full of crap, and some say: INGREDIENTS: Corn The flour ones are never going to be real food, it's right in the name, "flour." But you could do worse. Santa Fe has a mostly whole food tortilla that's very good, and still soft and flexible unlike most "healthy" versions. And of course, a pure corn tortilla is whole real food.
  13. This is not 100% perfect, this is a shitload better than most fast food. https://www.tacobell.com/food/specialties/power-menu-bowl-veggie Panera can be pretty good too, and chipotle. The sofritas are damn tasty and pretty damn good nutritionally. You just have to look past the obvious.
  14. I know...WHAT??? I was surprised to find that they are making a specific effort to cut down sodium and other garbage, and to provide plant based and mostly whole food options. There are a couple. Still high in sodium, but not insane for occasional consumption if you need something fast. The black bean and rice bowl is a fairly decent option. But, this is mostly about making your own. Sure, why would you choose to make Taco Bell? Well sometimes it's just interesting, like gas station nacho cheez. Oddly, though Moriah hates anything spicy or peppery, she likes the TB meat. BUT...she's allergic to beef. So I've been making my own with no sodium added, and Beyond Burger. A little plant based "cheese" plus coconut-based crema and it's fun dumb little meal that is mostly real food. This pairs well with my all-food refried beans that use no lard or salt, but still have a creamy and greasy feel. I'll post that one later. 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon cornstarch 1 tablespoon dried onion powder 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon ground cumin 1 teaspoon paprika 1 teaspoon chili powder 1 teaspoon dried Mexican oregano, crushed well 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (just for zing not heat) 1/2 teaspoon white sugar 1 teaspoon beef bouillon granules...most brands are just full of salt. If you use unsalted, then add 1/2 tsp of potassium chloride.
  15. Their guacamole is about 1/3 off the grocery store prices, and it's good. Basic flavor you can add any sauce to. Tip: Comes in non-closable bags, a clothespin closes it well.
  16. On the scale of pork rinds to broccoli, it's far from both. But certainly farther from a pork ride (zero value). Whole unprocessed food are still best and ideal. Drinks and other processed foods are not ideal, but are a better crutch than stopping at McD. Also, nutritionists come in vastly varying qualities. Most doctors who specialize in optimal diets agree on all this, that's where I get my info. These are not my opinions, just learned from so much reading on the topic.
  17. You realize that recommendations are based on what is easy and people might actually do, not what is ideal? I learned that some years ago when my doctor outright told me why he didn't tell me how to actually solve my joint issues the hard but natural way. "Yeah, but nobody does it."
  18. Another easy meal that I love is the Sam's Club guacamole (pretty clean), canned beans, and the Santa Fe whole wheat/flax tortillas. Simple burrito. Add sauce...yum. A can of beans and a pack of the guac make three of them, I eat two in a meal for around 700 calories. Very low carb hit and very good real food that lasts for many hours.
  19. Store-made guac often has additives, so read the label. But many are just avocados, tomatoes, onions, and peppers with a bit of salt. If you make your own, then you're guaranteed it's real food. Now, tortilla chips are just oil and salt, but if you air fry natural corn tortillas, those are real food also. That's what I do. Then splash a little hot sauce on the guac...and I feel like I'm eating fun junk food. Avocado is a great food for your body. https://nutritionfacts.org/2022/05/12/anti-inflammatory-effects-of-guacamole/?utm_source=NutritionFacts.org&utm_campaign=14bda07116-RSS_BLOG_DAILY&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_40f9e497d1-14bda07116-28710906&mc_cid=14bda07116&mc_eid=6bf37ade4d Anti-Inflammatory Effects of Guacamole Written By Michael Greger M.D. FACLM on May 12, 2022 KEY TAKEAWAYS Adding avocado to a burger blunts the spike in inflammation that normally occurs within hours of eating meat. Despite the avocado adding more fat and calories to the meal, less inflammation is produced, likely because the additions are from antioxidant-rich whole plant foods that can inhibit oxidized fat formation. Most of our waking hours may be in a postprandial (after-meal) state, and the fat we eat may be crippling our artery function soon after consumption. When two milkshakes with virtually the same amounts of calories, sugar, protein, fat, saturated fat, and fiber, but one included peanuts, a whole plant food containing thousands of phytonutrients, were given to subjects, within hours of drinking the non-peanut shake, artery function was diminished by 20 percent. With the addition of peanuts, though, there was no significant drop in the ability of the arteries to relax and dilate normally, and walnuts may work even better. In another study, researchers examined reactions to: (1) ice cream, (2) avocado, (3) just the fat and protein from the ice cream (to separate out the sugar), and (4) just the amount of sugar in the ice cream (to separate out the effects of the saturated butterfat). Oxidative stress levels in the bloodstream increased with the ice cream, just the fat and protein from the ice cream, and just the sugar in the ice cream, but no increase was observed after eating the avocados. Whole plant foods, which are rich in antioxidants, come naturally prepackaged with phytonutrients and do not show the same potential for oxidative damage.
  20. Shit's nasty, and it seems about as unhealthy processed as possible.
  21. The only people I know who insist on live TV are women. More proof.
  22. Another one that road crashed, and, WHAT THE FUCK is this shit about never been washed with water. I mean, I appreciate the warning that it's probably filthy as fuck where you can't see it, but I think he implies this is a good thing??? https://www.cycletrader.com/listing/2000-Honda-Cbr-5021362901?cmp=email_cycle_search-alert
  23. That's been debunked. Put that book in the fireplace. Watch that video, follow some of Dr Greger's and Dr Fuhrman's links on insulin response.
  24. Black is right. Hope they don't have an anti-fruit chapter, that has turned out to be bogus.
