  1. I know of people that have ArmorAlled their motorcycle seats. (...not me)
  2. I haven't tried it yet.
  3. 'zactly. I was working in trying to learn C# a couple years ago. Not much was sticking to my old brain corpuscles though. Many CAD people treat their software like cars. Get in and drive. If the system behaves badly, check for program updates, OS, antivirus, firmware, BIOS etc. mist people that drive a car will never remove a valve cover. They don't look at memory apportion either. I'm far from expert at it either. Changing the architecture, VooDoo, probably not too hard, but time consuming without any "silver-bullets" or absolutes. "Wha if I mess something up?" I'm decent with Google though. "The amount of memory available to to Revit is managed by the operating system (Windows). Revit will take advantage of as much memory as it is given. There is no limit set in Revit - I have heard of some monster Revit projects using up to 128GB. If you do elect to set to manage Virtual Memory settings manually, please set based on Microsoft recommendations found here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2860880/how-to-determine-the-appropriate-page-file-size-for... The short summary: set it to 1X-3X the amount of RAM available." So, 32GB RAM on board, ...by that math - set the paging space between 32GB and 126GB (128?) That memory will reside on the local SSD drive? No physical disk, speed of electrons sorta? Back in the 1980s we bought extra RAM to load drawings completely into RAM Vs trying to access the drawing files in pieces from the old kilobyte rated hard-disks. It was way more than just a noticeable improvement On a side note, I'm looking for a PC on greedBay for myself. I'm looking used and pretty much starting at 64GB RAM being added to my Watch List. The old Dell M6600 is getting long in the tooth.
  4. ....very small company...
  5. 😳 ...over the network, off a server. We're looking at trying some alternate things. Like I said, i spoke too soon. ...still kind of wondering if an eGPU would have any benefit. It looks like Revit runs mostly in RAM
  6. She's been advised to load it into the local machine SSD drive. I'm learning the setup as I ask questions.
  7. Thanks, I spoke too soon. I need to look at what's chocking the processes. I'm fairly well versed at two other CAD programs. This one "is a little different". https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture-forum/cpu-vs-gpu/m-p/7802203#M184040
  8. So, some people go buy a computer based on price and RAM. There are other factors that people should look at disk space, clock speed and graphic processors. IT guys seem to be out-of-touch with the programs and the sizes of models that be require to be ground-out. I would't probably buy a fuelly dragster from a place with a lot full of Prius's. They probably wouldn't understand my needs. I have a friend that bought a computer for CAD and she is having difficulty processing large industrial scale models. I did a little searching around through the Dell forums and others, and to see what's on eBay. Has anybody got any experience with external graphic processor units? Any recommends? My computer expert that's in the family didn't have any experience with it. I'm probably not visualizing it well either. ...card dock: Amazon ...card: Amazon too I'm not rooted at any particular supplier, Best Buy, Newegg, eBay, whatever...
  9. "Now he's too old to rock and roll But he's too young to die Yes he's too old to rock and roll But he's too young to die He once owned a Harley Davidson And a Triumph Bonneville Counted his friends in burned-out spark plugs Prays that he always will But he's the last of the blue blood's greaser boys And all his mates are doing time Married with three kids up by the ring road Sold their souls straight down the line"
  10. This one. 200K miles $21k? https://billings.craigslist.org/cto/d/billings-1992-dodge-4x4-ram-valve/7821394209.html
  11. ...not here. They are crumbs of rust scattered along the highways intertwined with road-salt and dead whitetails.
  12. So, I'm thinking it's a BOT. https://m.facebook.com/mr.musk.940137/ ...boggles the mind. 2 friends, 35k followers...
  13. Yeah, a 1994 Dodge 2500. I guess they were 250s back before they change names. Blah blah blah four-wheel drive with no rust diesel would be awesome.

  16. That is an intake manifold. If that fitting costs this much, I'd probably try to reuse the old one too. More money for beer.
