Fork Seal

I'm in the process of replacing the front fork seals, leaking on one of the forks.

A couple of issues that came up in the process

first - bottom bolts will not release - one of them just spins and the other is locked solid - thoughts on how to get those off and do they need to come off to replace the seals?

Second - the fork tubs are pretty rough, I've used wd40 in attempt to clean up the tubes, may actually be scratches.  What are my options here.  What is the best approach and what would be the economical approach

When I got my 999 it was leaking, cleaned them and it stopped.  I didn't have film but had just bought a TV, the yellow energy star sticker worked great.

did you try the trick with a piece of film?

I have not, if I continue to have trouble removing the bottom bolt I'll give that a try.

Does that spot contact the fork seal anywhere in the full travel of the forks? If yes, then it's a potential problem. If no, then it's not a problem.

I'm guessing that's where one of the triples clamps onto the fork? If that's the case, reassemble and don't sweat it.
