runninn
What tool or method have you used to pull the caliper piston seals w/out damaging the bore? Helpful ideas? thanks!
Redbird
I use a dental pick, but if I have the seals out, I'm replacing them. Might not be a great idea if you're reusing your seals.
jon haney
If you are planning on re-using the seals, tweasers should be gentle enough. Spraying the bore with brake cleaner to remove old brake fluid could make the seals easier to get a hold of.
superhawk996
Brake cleaner can destroy seals.
runner
It's a fool's decision to re-use the seals. Mine should be hear today from Partzilla. The dental pick worked perfect for the removal. thanks
jon haney
Brake cleaner can destroy seals. True, but I would hope any substance used to make brake caliper seals would stand up to at least a quick spray of "brake cleaner". However, I'm with runner on this one. Put new ones in while you have it apart. They're old.

superhawk996
I've reused caliper seals lots of times, even ones that were already leaking due to corroded calipers & pistons. In cases where they're available and not ludicrous $ they should be replaced. Brake cleaner can ruin them, they won't be ruined right away, they'll sneak up on you later on forcing you to start over. Same goes for getting any petroleum based fluid on them. They'll be ok for a while, sometimes weeks, then suddenly you find that they've turned to goo. I've had crusty cylinders & calipers on boat trailers that were leaking; honed the cylinders, scrubbed the pistons, cleaned the seals with hot water & some scrubbing and back to running. runner
The seal replacement & piston cleanup took care of the brake sticking issue. Live & learn...thanks
