sriddy
This is really a garage topic, but more people hang out here, so wtf??? For those of you with a speedo healer, have you had it just crap out on you? Mine just gave up the ghost this weekend. I saw it coming because it would drop out every so often. Now its totally on strike. I take it out of the loop, the speedo works fine. plug it back in, nothing. The test mode doesn't work. Top speed memory doesn't work either. Any suggestions? :icon_think:

sriddy
I emailed HealTech Electronics directly and got this reply within an hour Hello Steve, Thank you for contacting us - I'm sorry to hear about the problem. Probably the problem is caused by poor terminal contact or broken wire. The 3p Honda connectors are not sealed and they corrode easily. Disconnect the 3p and 4p connectors and check whether the pins are broken or pushed out of position. Spray some WD40 into the 3p and 4p connectors (even if the surfaces look ok). Unplug/plug-in the connectors a few times. Then reconnect the harness, and make sure that all connections are good and the connectors are fully seated. ======== Test-1: When you are done, please execute the SH input and output tests as follows: - Set the 1st (and only) SH switch On - Turn the ignition On The LED blinks once, and the speedometer should indicate a steady speed. Now, rotate the rear wheel. The SH LED should be blinking as the wheel turns. If this test fails, please measure the voltages on the four pins of the 4p SH connector to ground (in DC 20V setting). Test-2: It should be possible to restore the original speedometer function while the SH box is removed. - Remove the SH box from the bike - Connect the 1st and 4th pins of the 4p harness connector together with a short spare wire. The speedometer should work normally. Otherwise the white or blue signal wires are damaged. Test-3: You could test the unit off the bike (self-test): - Remove the SH box from the bike - Set the 1st (and only) SH switch ON - Power the unit e.g. from a +9V battery or +12V DC source (pin 3 is the positive, pin 2 is the negative terminal - see attached pic) The LED will blink once at power-up. - Connect the 1st and 4th pins together with a wire loop. The LED is flashing continuously. Finally, please read-out the date code from your SH so I can check which revision you have. To do this: - Set all switches ON - Turn on the ignition (power on) --> One flash After 4 seconds the date code is displayed on the LED in dd-mm-yy format. One short flash (0.2 s) means 1, and a long flash (1 s) means 10. There is approx 4s delay between the 3 groups. E.g. the following sequence means 15-01-2004: -..... . .... You can restart the sequence by pressing the button. ======== If you'd like to skip all tests, please send the box back via normal post (USPS) to the following address with zero declared value and stating "defective motorcycle acc.": HealTech Electronics / RMA Bekes Szolo u. 24. 5630 Hungary If we find a problem with the box, we will send a new one asap. I hope this helps, and please let me know your findings. Kind Regards, /Norbert HealTech Electronics I'm pleased with the fast reply. And it turns out WD-40 did the trick. Now it works again and I just got back from recalibrating the speedo. Sorry you had a bad experience bajjer. Guess I lucked out.
