    Speedo healer

I emailed HealTech Electronics directly and got this reply within an hour I'm pleased with the fast reply. And it turns out WD-40 did the trick. Now it works again and I just got back from recalibrating the speedo. Sorry you had a bad experience bajjer. Guess I lucked out.
  2. This is really a garage topic, but more people hang out here, so wtf??? For those of you with a speedo healer, have you had it just crap out on you? Mine just gave up the ghost this weekend. I saw it coming because it would drop out every so often. Now its totally on strike. I take it out of the loop, the speedo works fine. plug it back in, nothing. The test mode doesn't work. Top speed memory doesn't work either. Any suggestions? :icon_think:
  3. OK, so shortly after I whined in the post above, I wised up and did a a search. I found a lot of info on plateaus from TJ. So I took his advice and added weight training to my workout schedule. The past five weeks have shown a definate improvement as far as strength is concerned. Plus, I back issue I had subsided when I finally decided to strengthen the supporting muscles. I even feel better when riding the 'bird for longer periods. Due to this plus modifying the diet to a low cal and low carb (translate to a moderate lunch and small dinner, a large percentage of which is rabbit food.) I've lost another 5 lbs in the past two weeks. Assuming I didn't just jinx myself by bragging about it, I think I've kickstarted the weight loss again. So a big thanks to TJ for the info, even if the posts dated back 3 yrs, and another big thanks to Obby for the words of encouragement. You guys rawk!!!
  4. I went from 285 to 250 at a fairly constant rate of 2-3 lbs. per week. Then for the past month, I've been bouncing around between 250 and 253. I've been doing the low carb thing and going on 1/2 hr stationary bike rides at the gym twice a week. I can't figure out anything I've changed in the past month. WTF do I need to do to get this thing kickstarted again. Its fucking pissing me off... Steve
  5. You're supposed to clean your chain???
  6. What RPM are you noticing this? You may be lugging the motor.
  7. OK, checked out the YUASA site and here's what I found: The battery for the '97 'bird (mine) is 1.2 amps and 180 cold crank amps The battery for a new 'bird is only 1.1 amps and 210 cca. (similar dimensions) There were some others at 240 cca for other bikes. So, what's better, amps or cca as far as starting the 'bird on those cold days when she's a little cranky? What would I gain by going with a more powerful battery (assuming it still fits...)? Oh yeah, good advise on the tender. I got one after reading about them here last month. Steve
  8. Anybody have experience with upgrading the battery in the XX (as in more crank amps)? Mine's on its deathbed, so I was wondering what others have done. Part numbers and URLs are a plus. Steve
