JasonW
I finally got around to getting a new chain and I just assumed that all DID530ZVM chains were black in color.........this one is just raw steel. Is there a different part # for the black ones? Not that it matters since I will probably just go ahead and run this one, but for future reference. I ordered it from MAW and didn't see any other choices. Are the black ones any faster? :???:
Pete in PA
They all start out as "raw steel" (silver/gray) then with mileage and chain lube they go black. If you clean it with kerosene/wd-40 it will be gray again. the gold chains excluded of course.
JasonW
Well I'll be damned, you're right, Pete. Thanks. I just went and scraped the side plate on my old chain and sure enough, it's gray. Jeeze, I didn't think that much crap had accumulated on it, and I did run kerosene over it once just enough to remove some cat fur. I thought I saw on one of the sites or a catalog that it listed it as being black......don't know what I was smoking that day. :???: Thanks again, Pete. SwampNut
and I did run kerosene over it once just enough to remove some cat fur. You were...neutering cats with your chain? Getting rid of those pesky critters that put paw prints on it overnight...? ?
