Mekanix
OK, probably not the smartest thing I done, but I washed the bike with the new windshield off and the seat off. I haven't ridden in a few weeks and was installing a new Airblade windshield, wanted to get the dust out of the way and not scratch it. So, I hand washed the bike, put the new windshield on, and took her for a spin. Everything worked great until about 15 minutes into the ride. Now, I have the following... 1. Neutral safety switch not overriden with the clutch lever. 2. Blinkers don't work. 3. Horn doesn't blow. Also, I pulled the bars off for a sec, didn't see how it would affect anything, but I did do that. I still have brights, so I can't think that I disconnected something in the harness. Going to go through with my meter, but for now wonder if anyone else has seen this and what they did to fix it. Thanks. Johnny
thetart
My best guess is water in the electrics. As the bikes still running and its only the non essential elecs that are effected (I know you still need indicators etc... on the road). Leaving it with the seat off in a hot garage should get the water to evaporate our of which ever loom or contacts it is across

I've done the fuse thing a number of times, especially with the new box I put in.

Blew all the water away with a leaf blower, etc... The following morning when I headed off to work around 5:30am I got out of the driveway then realized that I didn't have a headlight. No turn signals either if I recall. Turned it around and put it back in the garage and took the Suburban to work. When I got home that night, all was well again. Mekanix
Thanks for all the tips. As of now, I only have blinkers and horn missing. I went ahead and redid all the fuses, just to be sure. Some tarnishing on the connectors. Sprayed a bunch of water displacement in the hand control unit. I think I am gonna have to pull the windshield off, but I will wait till the weekend. Good lesson learned, wash it like you ride it? Thanks again. Johnny
OZDave
A friend’s 03 Bird had electrical issues relating to the FI light. Not your problem I know but it may have a similar cause. The problem was finally traced to the large connector behind and below the windshield. It has a large open ended rubber splash boot around it that had the open end facing up. It used to fill up with water every time he washed it. Changing the angle of the boot solved the problem. Mine was positioned correctly from new. May help. :icon_think:
Skull
All three items mentioned have their switches on the left handlebar. Sounds like water.
