  1. Have you got a friend who rides also. Can you borrow their battery to see how you get on?
  2. My best guess is water in the electrics. As the bikes still running and its only the non essential elecs that are effected (I know you still need indicators etc... on the road). Leaving it with the seat off in a hot garage should get the water to evaporate our of which ever loom or contacts it is across
  3. He's a very nice man. Thanks for that. :icon_thumbsup: Right off to Maplins to go and get a new one. I'll post back hopefully with happier news. Cheers
  4. Circuit boards, same here. Anyone in the UK?
  5. Hi all the day after my bikes 25k service, I've been out for a blast in the country, only to find after I got there stopped the bike and had a cuppa, it wouldn't start again. 80 mile from home, the thought ... dam went through my mind. I've diagnosed the fault to two things, the rectifier/regulator and the battery. The rec/reg was pumping out silly voltage which cooked the battery which emptied the acid... all over the road I guess. There was none left in there when I checked. Once I was finally up and running again, I checked my speedo which said 0mph as I was doing 60 (ish ... maybe I guess) down the country lanes. Once back I've took the speedo apart to find out whats wrong. big picture here http://wayne.shacknet.nu/general/100_1816.jpg Possibly a question for someone with a street fighter as it is easier to get to the clocks, anyone any idea what was written on the component on the right hand side and is it a resisitor or diode. The chip on the board still works, I've tested that, but can't read what was written on that component. Anyone with a carb model Bird any idea (or FI model that uses analogue clocks) willing to have a look. Once I've got it working, (I am going to get it working. I'm not paying £200 for a new circuit board) am I allowed to post back what component values were to help out other people with the same problem, or am I breaking the site rules? Cheers A very sad Wayne
  6. This sounds kinda like whated happened to me. My case is the the bike stalled under a blip of acceleration, but is fine if you left it alone on the side stand (defeats the point a bit) The regulator wasn't living up to its name, which also cooked the battery. I don't know what anyone elses opion is to this method, but have you tried another fully charged battery and disconnecting the reg/rectifier (don't ride with your headlights on!) and see if you still stall then. This is probably best done with a friend and a set of jump leads, just in case The ground option is probably the best bet, but this is something else to try
