Posting Pictures

Credit in large to Xrated, responsible for the draft that this is modified from, saving me lots of typing.

It seems that at least several times a month, someone is trying to learn how to post a picture on the forum. I will attempt to give some directions with this post.

1. YOU MUST UPLOAD YOUR PICTURES TO A WEB SITE OR HOST. THIS IS THE VERY FIRST THING TO DO! Many of us here use www.photoisland.com but there are other online photo hosts available. Yahoo.com is another. The choice is yours, but you MUST have them on a server or host somewhere. A service that has a "link to auction" option is necessary, because when you post here, and link a picture, you are not signing into your picture service with your username and password as you usually do. Photoisland is one service that has that option, you just need to renew each picture "to auction" every so often...I think it's 30 days. Additionally, most internet services give 3-10 megs of web space that you can use with each account. They are usually faster than photoisland, and you can just throw your pictures into your web space once your provider enables it, and link readily from there without passwords and sich.

2. Once you have your photo or photos hosted, then you need to know what the URL is for each photo. (Example):

www.photohosting.com/johndoe/xxalbum/sunsetride.jpg

The above is only an example. Whoever hosts your photos will probably have a way for you to find out your EXACT URL to the photo.

3. Right click the URL and "copy" it.

4. Go to the forum and click on a new topic or if you would like to reply to an existing post, go there.

5. Once you have added your text and are ready to post the picture, this is what you need to do. Type the following into your post.

EXAMPLE

Your URL for your picture is www.photohost.com/johndoe/xxalbum/sunsetride.jpg

What you need to do is type: ""

ATTENTION: Leave out the " that are outside of the brackets and do not have any spaces

(Or you can just click on the "IMG" button before and after the URL is pasted)

That's about it. PM or whatever with more questions.
