Dotetcher Posted September 21, 2005 Share Posted September 21, 2005 I'm looking to add some insulation to my attic and am leaning toward the type you blow in (cellulose). Makes sense both economically + only have a 19.5" square access panel to enter the attic space. I can rent the machine and buy bags of the insulation from HomeDepot. N1K Posted September 21, 2005 Share Posted September 21, 2005 Only thing you need to be careful of is that you don't blow insulation all the way into your soffit vents. And don't blow insulation into contact with the roof. Both of those will cause you issues with improper ventilation and your attic will be too warm. I'll try and find a diagram to explain. N1K Posted September 21, 2005 Share Posted September 21, 2005 Ok... As shown here... If you just go up in the attic and start blowing it in.. It will blow all the way down into the soffit and block the soffit vents. You'll want some kind of baffle to keep an airgap. They make plastic 'things' that attach to the roof so you can make an air gap and blow in insulation without blocking the air-gap. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
