  1. Yes. Just won't fire now. Occasional pops and backfires while cranking. Gonna check the carbs but uncovering the boat first. Striper season here in communist state of NY. So many hobbies, so little time.
  2. I'm running cables to my jeep for good juice. Once the battery runs down that is. I've got the battery back on the Tender. Brand new battery last year. It's been sitting on the Battery Tender all winter.
  3. Stepped away for the rest of today. Re-watching Altered Carbon on Netflix. I have the factory Service manual. Next time I get into it I'll try tapping the carbs. Thank you.
  4. If someone pulled up in my driveway right now and offered me $1000 for this thing I'd take it.
  5. Nevermind. Just tested. Works well. On to the next thing. Replacing vacuum line with new and trying again.
  6. Also does anyone know how much vacuum is needed to activate diaphragm. I have a mighty vac and can rig something up to test the valve.
  7. So while I'm figuring out how to update the topic title I'll give an update. First thing I did was check oil level. That was fine so second guessing my original guess on why engine not turning over. Next thing was to put up on center stand, put bike in 5th and try to rotate wheel backwards (Thanks Joe). Moved a little bit so I thought I would try hitting the starter again. Bike turned over! Sweet! Not hydrolocked. Flat spot in starter? Who knows. I am dealing with a fuel delivery issue though because bike will not start. Catches on full choke but will not stay running. Only firing a bit while starter engaged and choke on. End of vacuum hose was dry and split so trimmed it and reconnected. Still same. Is there a way to test the valve/diaphragm to see if it works? What do I need to apply enough vacuum to see if the diaphragm is still good. My lips? As usual thank you all for your help.
  8. Right or left? While sitting on bike. Facing forward.
  9. Getting the bird out of the shed. Put the battery in and hit the ignition. Always started right up in the past. Very partial turnover then nothing. Hit the starter and it sounds like its engaging but motor does not turn over. I don't want to fuck anything up. Never dealt with this before. What do I do. 1997 carbed bird. TIA
  10. I drive alot of different cars in my part time retirement gig. The Stinger is one of the few I remember. Put a huge smile on my face first time I hit the go pedal. WTF! was my first thought.
  11. 36,651 latest mileage. Last bump and reduction. Buddy says he'll take $5500. Too much of a pain to get it to Florida.
  12. BMW's have never been my thing but I've ridden with those who swear by them. Like us with the XX. This is a nice bike in very good condition. If you look on Cycle trader there is one other bike with the same color and graphics and more miles listed for 8995. There are some cheaper but I don't know condition. I spent February and March in Florida. Had a couple of bites but was 1500 miles away. Now back in New York. Next move? I may ride it to Florida and fly home. Gonna be in Tucson in August. I could drop it off.
  13. Last Bump and another price drop. My Buddy wants it gone. $6500
  14. I've forgotten how to block someone. Can't seem to find it.
  15. I went with the HID for now. Basically a direct re placement for what was in the bird and didn't want to have to figure out anything new. New bulbs are a lot brighter. Seems like that's all I've been doing since the weather got nice is working on 2 wheel, four wheel and floating vehicles. Pain in th ass. Time to have some fun.
  16. That sounds too much like work. All connections I touch or replace get a nice coating of dielectric grease. Stops corrosion in its tracks.
  17. OK. Replaced the ignition relay. That seems to have corrected the problem. Haven't put too many miles on it. Gonna take it out tonight for a few. Thanks for the help and the suggestion.
  18. What's the consensus at this point? As usual TIA.
  19. Replaced main ground. Still having issue. There is the ignition relay. My next question would be is this the relay that carries all the key on power to the bike.. I don't see anything labeled main relay. Anyone? Im thinking it would because that 30 amp fuse that is connected to it.is the main fuse for the bike. But not 100% sure.
  20. 1997. JcRichs original '97 I bought off another guy (cant remember his name) after my first bird got its beak bashed after a soccer mom ran a stop sign.
  21. That will be my next step. Thanks. I've replaced headers and oil coolant lines do to massive corrosion. Salty roads in winter and actual salt water during storms while in the Outer Banks (Hatteras Island) NC. Salt is a motherfucker.
