Steve Smith
I went with a polished alum. rear sprocket this time around. It's got 2 more teeth.I expect it'll give me an distinct edge in roll-ons and in the 1/4 mile. Not all that worried about losing 5-7 m.p.h. on top. I expect approx 400-500 r.p.ms higher per gear . Does this sound about right? Anyone else go up two teeth at the rear sprocket? If so, were you pleased with the difference? blackhawkxx
They say that 1 down in front is the same as 3 up in the rear. So I guess it will be a little less than doing the front.
rickrad
Aluminum? Don't look for it to last long.
demon
I've went 1 down in the front as well as 1 up in the rear. I can feel the increase in acceleration over stock pretty well.
Skull
I went 1 tooth down in the front and I can tell the pull is much stronger. My speedometer, though, is way out of whack -- as much as 15 mph high up toward the magic 100 mark.
Steve Smith
I had an alum. rear sprocket on my 184 rear wheel h.p. Kaw turbo, it held up just fine. So the gearing change will change my speedo reeding? I read there's a "gizmo" available that will recalibrate your factory speedo to an ACTUAL , true reading. I forget what they are called. Anyone have one installed on their bike?

Obby
Hey Steve, How about some pics of your new bird and some of your purple passion (turbokawi).
Steve Smith
Got rid of the original "Purple Passion" turbo Kaw last year. I just finished "playing" around with my new '03 XX and took a few digital pics today. I'll see that they get sent to the proper authority for posting. Here's a hint, it looks sweeeeeeeeeeeet! I dropped 1 in front, two up in rear.....Prepare to do half of the quarter mile on a pogo stick. BTW I have a Sprocket Specialists aluminum rear with litening holes that has held up fine for 5k. blackhawkxx
I dropped 1 in front, two up in rear Could you use your stock lenght chain?
cbrxxquad
15/58 now 16/60 soon
demon
Could you use your stock lenght chain? Yes you could. It would be like putting an 18 tooth on the front with the stock rear. All that you're actually adding in total teeth is one. I've run my stock front sprocket with a 46 rear and it worked for me. The 16/46 puts my rear axle at the stock location. XXMAN
Mine had different gearing when I bought it. I geared it back to stock for more usable power on the low end. If I remember right it was down two teeth in the rear.
