Tire plugs

Got a flat the other day on the way to work. Not a big deal since the tire was getting to the point of needing to be replaced anyways.

But my problem is SWmoto is not open this week. Really need a tire. I do have one that has about 2,000 miles on it but I had a flat with that in Canada and took it off when I got home.

It stayed up the whole way back last year and did not lose any air, but thought I should replace it. Thinking of putting this tire back on.

What is your guys opinions on riding with a plug in the tire?

Thanks,

Ken

I was in need of a front tire really bad the other week.. I talked to a buddy of mine at a bike shop. I asked him how fast can he get me a tire.

2 days and Sold it to me for the same price it would cost me to buy it off the net and pay the $6 to $12 for shipping.. Told him that most places were selling them off the net were averaging about $100 for a front shipped

I got a new tire and shagged it nicely all through the mountains of WV

Do it if you have to, bring more plugs and CO2 when you travel, be prepared for heavy steering or major failure????

With that, I would do all I could to get a new one, there are other places that you can get a tire then SW Moto and maybe pay $10-15 more. I think it is worth it.

Buy from Dennis Kirk ! They will charge you $1 less than an advertissed price. In case of South-West that includes shipping too !!!! (DK figures their $1 off program based on the price of the tire plus shipping !). Travel time to you should be quicker from DK than S-W as well.......

Cheers,

I've ridden 500 miles with semi-hard with a plugged rear tire. No probs.

Then I replaced it cause it was worn anyway.

If you have the equipment then a patch on the inside is good. Plugs are generally a temp. fix and tend to get cut by the cords of the tire over time and can fail.

You've gotta buy two tires from SWmoto to get free shipping.

You could also check out AZ Motorsports, they have good tire prices.

Travel time to you should be quicker from DK than SW

I usually get my tires in two days from SW Moto. That's NM to CA.
