RodeRash
I would like to replace the lights in my dash panel (97XX) with something that is a little brighter. (0ld man Eye syndrome) Is there an LED replacement that would fit in the stock sockets?

Hurricane
Does anyone know the bulb # for those lights in the dash? I thought they were 194's but are allot smaller. Anyone?
Northman
They are the same as 194's, but lower wattage. I replaced mine with 194's for more illumination.
azxx
You could try a Chevy dealer they used bulbs brighter than the 194s in the LCD instrument cluster in mid 80s Vettes.
Pete in PA
There's room in there for 194's??? I thought they were a lot smaller, but then I haven't had need to remove one yet. No problems with melting your insturments?
Hurricane
Maybe things are different in the '97 and '98's. I've a 2000. Been a while since I looked back in there, but from what I remember, they are not 194's. They are significantly smaller. From what I gather, I understand that the 2001 and later use LED's. But I am pretty dadgum sure the '99's and 00's do not use the 194's. That's why I asked.
Northman
You guys made me go all the way down to the South Wing of the house to get my spare gauges just to check.... On the back of the gauges are 10 bulbs. The red, larger bulb adapters are for the gauge illumination. They carry bulbs that resemble 194's, but are a lower wattage. I fitted 194's in mine, and they work fine. The other six, black bulb carriers are for the idiot lights and use smaller, 3W bulbs.

Northman
Is that the wing you don't even heat in the winter? Yeah, that's the one. How did you know? :???:
Hurricane
ThanXX for that info North! But what # are those bulbs for the idiot lights, then. Since the dash lights are 194, here is an alternate. You can plug and play these LED's lights in there. http://autolumination.com/194.htm
Helvet
If you want to see them better, you can also replace your gauges with this: http://cgi.ebay.nl/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...me=STRK:MEWA:IT
