testrider
HI all, Thanks to 1 of the posts here, I ordered a Yuasa YTX-12 battery from www.motorcyclebatteriesusa.com for my XX on the night of 11/24 (before Thanksgivings) and I received it today (11/29) via Fedex. It's $55 with free shipping (I have to pay sales tax as they are in SoCal. If you are not in CA, it's even cheaper for you). Inside the box, I found a coupon for 5% discount on any products until 12/31/2004. The coupon code is MBUSA11104 (enter it on shopping cart) if anyone needs a battery. -Mike-
silverbird1100
That's a hell of a deal. Everywhere I look the Yuasa is over a $100. Do they make different models?
testrider
Yes, the price is good and that's I had to pay sales tax (CA). If you are not in CA, it's $51. Yes, I saw different brands of batteries (not just Yuasa) for lots of different motorcycles. Check it out. BTW, the battery I received was manufactured in Sept 2004 and I measured it when it arrived to have 12.85 V. -Mike-
Pete in PA
It came wet??? I don't want one already activated. Charge it anyway before installing.
wadem
Does anyone know the difference between the different batteries available for the bird. When I go to motorcyclebatteriesusa they list different batteries for different years.
testrider
Looks like the differences are in the capacity and cold cranking amps: I got a YTX for my 97 XX (10 Ah, 175 CA) for $55. The one for 2001-2002 is 11 Ah and 210 CA and costs $104. I wonder if the FI bird needs more CA to start? -Mike-
bartonmd
The FI battery, as in cars, probably needs to be more CCA to keep the voltage higher so the ECM doesn't go low voltage and turn off and on again while the bike is being cranked. Guest rockmeupto125
Or the underseat temp is higher and battery output is proportionately decreased. '01's and up have cats in CA, right?
