Scuff Removal

Recommended Posts

Silly me used my tank bag which has a handle at the front. With the wind blowing the handle scuffed the very front of the tank.

It is a slight scuff about the size of a dime if not smaller.

Can anyone suggest what I can do to remove it ?

The problem I am having with the 2001 Red is...the clear coat is so thick and the red is so reflective and sparkly that every single little nick and scuff really shows. I am sure it had something to do with the fact that I wax it so much.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

with it just being the clear coat scuffed you might be able to get away with some Mequires scratch remover, or if it comes down too it find you some 2000 grit sand paper and wet sand the spot really really really gently..

Then buff it up with some good wax...

If that don't work just cover it with a sticker or something

Ty this website for the products and techniques, found them quite helpful!

www.carcareonline.com

I've had the same problem with my bikes when using a tankbag. Since the first time I've ben placing a cotton diaper under the tankbag and make sure it's snug on the bike so as not to allow it to move much.

When I do get a wear on the paint, or light scratches I like to use "3M Hand glaze" then PS21S then some good wax (I still rpeer Carnuba). Looks better than new!

Dave,

Pick up most any sale brand of non-abrasive POLISH.

Use your micro-fiber with an ample amount of the polish and

rub out the scuff. NOt a big deal to do since the clear coat is so thick as you said.

When polished out just wax as usual and Bobs-your-uncle !!
