SwampNut
It's unbelievably stupid that they had this market controlled, but the providers want their extra profit and FDA obliged. There was enough push to get this down however. I'm currently using one of the early test releases, which were just a regular CGM with a label, and far lower cost. So damn stupid.
azxr
How long are they good for? I see a wire has to be inserted under the skin. Does it have to be replaced on a reqular basis?
SwampNut
Mine are ten days and 12.5 hours, the new no-RX ones are 15 days. The wire is auto-inserted when you put it on and is tiny. You don't feel it. It's applied with an automatic tool, foolproof. Put it on your skin, press the button, and a spring blasts it on. A magnet signals it to enable Bluetooth. You scan a QR code to pair it on your phone/Watch. I wear cover patches because I'm active and damage them otherwise.
blackhawkxx
Can you place them anywhere on you and what will be the cost (if you know)?
SwampNut
Not really anywhere, you need an area with fat because you don't want the insertion needle going into muscle or a bone. They are tested and approved on the upper arm, thighs, and upper ass area. I've tried it on a calf too. It took a while to figure out how to not rip them off while doing things. The non-prescription will be under $100/mo.
