Ethang
Hi All, just got a spanking new 03 back in March. This is my first sport bike so I'm learning it. My question is looking at the clutch fluid in the sight window it is noticably darker then the brake fluid. I have aprox 2000 miles on the bike. Also, the shift from first to second seems kinda rough if I don't shift at a low RPM. All the other shifts don't make the same noise no matter where I shift it. Is this operator error or something wrong? thanks for any input Ethan :?:
matey_peeps
probably darker cuz you use the clutch more than the brake. that dark stuff is the water in suspension. fresh fluid is almost clear, kinda yellowish, so i'd recommend a flush and fill for your new bike. HERBXX
Most bikes i've owned owned turn the clutch fluid dark. I think its somthing to do with the engine heat on the slave cylinder. I think its pretty normal . As for the 1-2 shift , it just it needs a bit more clutch them the others, you could try adjusting the lever a bit father away from the bar , it may work better for you . SwampNut
I switched both systems to DOT 5.1 and it has stayed clear for nearly three years.
XXTi
I did the same per Carlos' recommendation and my clutch fluid is staying nice and clear.
