To Traxxion went a used 900RR shock for a new spring. They got it at 10 am from UPS, called to clarify my request and offer suggestions. It was shipped back to me the same day they got it. Great turnaround, helpful staff and they got the spring weight spot-on, a 950 lb spring for a 150 lb rider. What a difference in smoothness of the ride. Money well spent.

On the change to a 900RR rear shock, the too weak spring on the RR unit is replaced with a stronger spring. Is it possible to use the spring from the XX shock that is being replaced, or is the stock spring part of the reason for shock replacement?

You could line the plastic with Plumbers heat shield used to prevent burns to anything close to the torch. It has the same look and feel as fiberglass mat and is about 12- 15 dollars for a 10x12 sheet.

Sizing seems good, however, make sure the jeans you order will fit over boots. Their regular jeans did not. To their credit they made good on the exchange.

If the '00 is the same as the '03, then the plug-in is on the left side under the gas tank just above the gearbox in a bell-shaped rubber cover that houses electrical connectors and is suspended on the wiring harness zip-tied to the left frame. Remove the two rear tank bolts and shim the rear of the tank up three inches or so. You can then see/access from either side with a light. Download the speedohealer user's manual to calibrate it.

Speedohealer.com has a calculator on their site to enter new parameters that change the speedo and/or odo readings. For the bird, with a 16 front sprocket and 5.5% factory compensation, it says 11.8% difference.

I found an oil leak from the gearshift spindle seal on the Bird today, an '03 w/ 1900 miles. Anyone else have an issue with this seal? TIA any input, Steve
