  1. I have the wheels off jackie's bike and was wondering about changing out the shock. I replaced the shock on my 97 XX and it only had 3,000 miles on it. Jackie's bike has 17,000 miles on it. Is it worth it to put my old shock on hers? If its the same shock I'm thinking it would be.

    Tall Guy on an XX

I'm 6'-2" with a 36" inseam. I did buy the lowering blocks but rode for years without them. Also added VFR bars. It is a big guy's bike.
  3. Clear alternatives sells a plug and play flasher for $12.95. http://clearalternatives.com/Merchant2/mer...ry_Code=Flasher
  4. I'm also interested in the wheels and rotors. Let me know.
  5. Let me know when you plan on coming up here. I have a place to stay, large garage, and can help you out on what to see. You can have a set of tires shipped up here and be ready for installation when you get here. I can get it coordinated with the local shop so yopu don't have any "down" time. If both you and Rich come then I will set up the first "ANXXT" meet. (Anchorage XX Tour) Who wants t-shirts? There is a stretch of about 70 miles of gravel road you will have to traverse to get here. (Last time I checked) Info on Alaska: http://www.alaskatrekker.com/alaska_highway.htm
  6. I installed clear bulbs with my clear lenses. They do look a bit yellow/orange when on. I've had this installation for about 3 years and never had any hassle over it. They are very bright.
  7. I will agree, in prisitine condition with only 3,500 miles this is a steal. This past March I paid $5,500 for Jackie's 2001 XX with 16,000 miles. It was immaculate!! I thought about haggling over the price but I knew if I didn't buy it someone else would, once they saw it. To me, it was worth every penny. Good luck in your sale.
  8. What else can I use besides the cleaning fluid that came with the filter? The filter is pretty much an oily mess. I may have been using too much oil on it when I recharged it last. I went ahead and installed a standard filter, but if I can get this thing cleaned and recharged I will put it back in.
  9. The Audi or the K&N filter? The Audi has 197,000 miles on it
  10. I have had a K&N filter in my 1990 Audi V8 Quattro for about 10 years. I just went to give it its semi-annual (annual?) cleaning and it really looks like crap. Should I just replace it? How long can one expect these to last?

    Penske shock

I don't think they were talking about the shock.

    WINTER PREP

I think I will just send Doug a trickle charger for the battery and just leave it alone.

    WINTER PREP

Doug is not very mechanically inclined. I think I could get him to put the battery on a trickle charger, I wouldn't be able to count on him draining the carbs.

    WINTER PREP

Yeah, put in on a trickle charger. Drain your float bowls, too. How difficult is it to drain the float bowls? Can it be done remotely (from Alaska)?

    WINTER PREP

My Illinois bike is stored at my friend Doug's house in Schaumburg. The garage is not heated so the bike gets a bit cold in the winter. Seeing as the battery went dead over the winter and had to be replaced I decided to do things a bit different. After putting STABIL in the tank and riding it for about 15 minutes I put the bike away and removed the battery. The battery is being stored in Doug's basement (which is heated). Will it still need to be recharged before I re-install it next spring? Should I put it on a trickle charger over the winter?

    ADDING WATER

I'm not sure if I'm desperate. There is about a shot glass of water in the reservoir.

    ADDING WATER

I called the local Honda shop, they didn't have any pre-mix honda antifreeze. The guy told me to put in any "green" pre-mix antifreeeze for autos.

    ADDING WATER

This is my Illinois bike and I am in fucking hot Lansing Michigan right now. Soon to be in Towanda, PA

    ADDING WATER

I just checked the water level on my bike and its about 1" from the bottom of the overflow container. Can I just add water? Water wetter? What should I do?
  20. Thanks Rich, but I think I'm ok. I had ordered a new battery for it and it came in Monday. Doug picked it up the battery Monday afternoon and put it in the bike. He called this afternoon to say it started right up. I'm going to put new plugs and an air filter in it and change the oil on Saturday. I also have a new set of Pilot Road 2's for it and will get them mounted Friday morning. I also have a set of VFR bars that I bought a about 6 months ago to install. WooHoo!!!
  21. My bike has not been started in about 10 months. My buddy Doug finally attempted to start it 2 weeks ago (I've been asking him to start it since May) and the battery was dead. He thought the power cord attached to the bike battery was a remote charger location so tried to charge the battery through that. That power cord has a fuse in it. Would that have messed up the fuse? Would it have done anything? I ordered a new battery, it will be in on Monday. The plugs are only 2 years old. Will I need new plugs? I'm bringing some just in case. My concern is... I get to Chicago on Friday. I drop the bike off at Schaumburg Honda Friday morning to get new tires mounted. (If it starts) I plan to leave for Lansing on Sunday. I'm not giving myself much time for any problems. (I think Doug hates my Honda)
