  1. mine went and they guy made me jump through hoops to test it when i had already confirmed it was bad!!THEN he gave me crap about not having proof of purchase when all i wanted was a replacement...ended up giving me a discount on a new generation version...its been working for about 9 months or so...i would probably still buy from him as long as the second one doesnt crap out after a year like the first one
  2. ummm 96K and counting..in fact I may be closer to 98k but I havent rode my bike in about 2 weeks so I cant recall the exact mileage...issues to date: Tires Chains Regulator/Rectifier Head Lights Stator Front wheel bearings Oil Antifreeze/coolant I bought it with 14K in May 03 Just RIDE IT!!
  3. I have the 3 degree advance from Factory pro with Migs and stock jetting and I run regular gas on my 97 with no issues FWIW
  4. There shouldn't be any doide regulator, because it's running DC, and there is not any zenier voltage regulation or anything, because that diode would be pretty big to handle that much power... Mike on second thought your right
  5. agreed but if there is some sort of diode regulator inside the gerbing jacket it wont work correctly...I never had one open to know myself
  6. yes...theoreticly(sp) they will still work but I would maintain the right polarity as designed
  7. have you checked your bearings? I ask because i had bad vibes as well and was under the impression i had a warped disc, but had no mic to measure it...then last week the right bearing blew completely...replaced the bearings and she stops on a dime now. Just something to consider if you havent already
  8. 97, 98 the same were they not?
  9. HOLY BATSHIT!!! Coffee...keyboard...get the picture? I dont even DRINK coffee!! :icon_lmao: :icon_comeheresign:
  10. ahhh, guess i am stuck with the two odd sized ones i got from jaws(one is taller than the other) I lost one a while back and got another one only to find there were two different designs with two different heights.
  11. do a search for jets or factory pro by Maxx...he had his 98 tuned well and he told me the best peformance was from doing the european jetting
  12. Actually you both should be at NEXXT that weekend !! I would love to but this is a trip we make twice a year with the same group. One of these days I'm going to make to one of the XX functions, most are so far away from me though OUCH! wheres the love?!?! :icon_rape:
  13. Those are the VFR bars. I have the same question, are those bar risers and VFR bars combined? And if so did it require longer clutch and brake lines? I had VFR bars with stock lines and it was BARELY enough room! I now have 2" longer speigler lines
  14. You big crybaby!!! If the truck i am getting ready to take the payments on is out of the shop in time I may be able to attend this year. The last couple of years have depended on my toyota getting fixed, but it never did. Its gone now tho so I am keeping my fingers crossed! By the way... :icon_nana: Actually you both should be at NEXXT that weekend !! I would love to but this is a trip we make twice a year with the same group. 16. another NEP here...
  17. just turned 87k on my 97...replaced stator, rr, and cam chain tensioner
  18. After 85k I think my shock is shot. tire keeps smashing my license plate on the underside of the mototek undertail. It never did before. I have had this setup for about 2 years now.It started about a week before my trip to Colorado. Can the shock spring itself be adjusted to make it stiffer? i have the ride adjusted all the way clockwise but its getting worse. I cant just put it up until I can repair or replace it so I wonder if any of you that upped their back shock to ohlens or penske would loan me your old one or perhaps even sell it to me? (when I get my first paycheck as my vacation was unpaid) If any of you can help me out I would be grateful. I put myself into a very bad position spending as much as I did in colorado but I wouldnt change it, my kids will never forget it James
  19. Same as John for me too
  20. True enough, it does. Me, I had a fresh tube of Permatex Ultra Copper hi-temp gasket sealer laying around when I replaced my stator. It worked as advertised; stator cover has been leak-free for the past 30,000 miles now.... Same here...been 8 months now
  21. i just do mine until it looks to be the same width as the front and rear link surrounding the rivet link. It hasnt failed me in the 3 years i been doing my chain myself
  22. easily adjusted at the throttle...loosen the nut on the curved metal thingy then adjust till there is no slack in the twist...geez I said "thingy" never thought that would happen!!
