  1. I have a Datel volt meter.
  2. So on the ride back from OzarXX my voltage would drop to 13.5 on the long stints between gas stops (for those who ride with Hobi, you know). I thought on the way back it was time to replace the stator maybe? 97 XX 37,000 miles, no extra electrical toys. Or is it proper for the voltage to drop like that cause there is little drawing. After every gas stop it would start good and voltage around 13.9/14. Just wondering am I being paranoid?
  3. Proof! WOW That's 49.8 mpg!!! I don't suppose you can tune a carb XX that refined. Can you? Eric, are you running stock gearing?
  4. It is easy to change to a R1 R/R if your bike is 97/98. Contact Bartonmd here on the board for more info and a new connector.
  5. Come on, Erik, your not that old! J/K Your bike was very clean and nice when I meet ya at Rednexxt last year. I am surprise to read it was a rebuild, never would have guessed. good luck with the sale.
  6. Shanesublett better not buy one then Shit, I better not use one I always have a beer or three when in the garage working.
  7. Check out his new wife too. let us know if she would be worth giving up an xx for. No such thing!!!
  8. It's the R/R. Takes ten minutes to change on a '98 including removing the tail. Order the part and be back on the road well before the dealer has the time to rip you off. +1 Just had this happen to my wifes CBR600 F2. Over charging, boiling batteries, the whole thing. The aftermarket R/R sucked and smoked in just a few rides. Contact Bartonmd on the board here and see if he has the stuff still to make/change the R/R plugs. Then contact University motors in Fargo and order a Yamaha R1 R/R. The Yamaha R/R is more reliable and much less expensive. I change my XX & wifes F2 and it's working great.
  9. :icon_needpics: They are the funny ones, ain't they. although I think he might like it if Redd would slap him around Stan if you have any left bring me one to OzaXX, please. You are going to OzarXX right?
  10. Sorry I got nothing for ya but you asked so I answered. Yes a fine avatar you have there :icon_thumbsup:
  11. +1 I also get that range of mileage. Yours sound a little low. When did you last tuned it up(plugs, air filter)? Also try it with the PC III unplugged to see if you have a good map in it.
  12. The first problem sounds like you just needed a new battery and drive the bike at to low of an RPM. If I run below 3500RPM it lugs the motor. Check your voltage out put to be sure on the battery thing. #2 when my bike is cold it also does a nock, nock, nock kind of noise it goes away when warm or if I raise the idle a little. From your description it may be different things but I would try turning up the idle to 1300 to see if the gets rid of the noise. I have been told by others with more knowledge of these thing that the nock, nock, nock is the clutch and is normal. I don't know if you have the same but worth a try. good luck
  13. It is a 97 with a oem R/R but not the original R/R the better one from Honda. It is kind of a rat bike (read crash rebuild) and my friend is only concerned with how shiny the paint is. Either the dealer or myself end up doing the work. I will check the connections & switch R/R's with my new one (thanks bartonmd) P.S. Yes Stan, I'm testing at the battery posts. That is the best place to check right? Thanks for the ideas
  14. So my friends XX had a battery go dead. We recharge the bat. and fire it up. Put the volt meter on it and @ idle it's putting out 14.2. So far so good... Rev the bike and the volts drop to 13.2 I don't know what that means. Is this the begining of the end for the stator? Thanks in advance for any help.
  15. I just scored a set of Pilot Powers for $240 done. I have heard so much good stuff on them I thought I would give them a try.
  16. IIRC the rotors are left/right specific. I went with EBC pro lights because they were a lot less $$ than the stock replacements from Honda. Good luck
  17. :icon_lmao: I was thinking I haven't been in the 160's since Jr. high Good work Brett. I need to get discipline in my eating/exercise routine (oh thats close to poutine)
  18. You mean you're actually going to keep a bike long enough to change the tires :icon_lmao: :icon_lmao: We may have room to haul it back. P.S. Joel, you have a PM
  19. Get a used one off of Ebay. It is not worth the hassle and uncertainty of trying to weld it. I have a search looking for one from egay but haven't seen one in a bit. I have one for you eddie, pm me an address Thanks for the offer Stan, but I need a rear brake lever for my 929 not the XX. If you happen to have a rear lever for a 929 I would gladly take it off your hands. Sudden thought, do the XX and 929 use the same rear brake lever? I will have to go look. Edit... Nope, not the same But I do have some of these HTS2000 rods coming :icon_thumbsup:
  20. This raises more questions... What would be his reserve price? Does tim come with any farkles? Is Tim that pretty? What is book price for an XX board mod? :icon_think: If we sold him, who would do the editing around here? (not that it happens often) Can we really afford to sell him? He leads a couple of the forums, what would come of these with out him?
  21. every time I see this thread I thing "Tim is on ebay for sale :icon_think: " Ya, some days I'm not that quick
  22. Get a used one off of Ebay. It is not worth the hassle and uncertainty of trying to weld it. I have a search looking for one from egay but haven't seen one in a bit.
  23. Thanks Joe, I think I will have to get some of that HTS2000 Edit - I couldn't resist. I will let ya'll know how it goes.
