  1. There were a few things i was hoping to do with whatever program i got involved with. Initially, i was just incensed that there was no way to know which tpms sensor was sending a lot signal without manually checking the you're pressure. That's stupid, right? My chevy says LF, RR, like it should. My 2008 F350 just gives me a pressure alert. So i wanted a way to find that out. Seems that forscan still can't do that, but it can allow me to change the low limit on the tpms to something other than 80 pounds. Now that i had the sudden shiutoff issue that i traced to one of the three EGT sensors (don't know which one), i thought i got all the gremlins out of the system. Nope. Pulled the truck out of the driveway to clean up the snow the other day and left it idling for just a couple minutes while i put the carb shield back on the snowblower. While I'm doing that three bolt chore, i hear the truck shut off. Damn! Yep, is a P0200 code. I can't throw $50 sensors at this thing every time it farts, so i needed something that could read the egt's so i could figure out what's happening. And maybe even find a way to change the parameters to delay the "I'm shutting down and don't give a fuck what sort of trouble that puts people in" thing that Ford designed into it. I can tell you i ain't finding dick as far as spreadsheet data for that year truck. 2008-10 superduty's are really ford's red headed step children
  2. This is what I need...Forscan for dummies. At the recommendations of several forum guys I looked closely at Forscan, ended up getting the OBD dongle they recommend for $50 off Amazon, and downloaded the software. I figured my options were $400 for Auto Enginuity scanner, or $50 plus however many years license I purchase from Forscan. Their full license is available as a 2 month trial for free, so I'm checking it out. Complicated, and I'm not used to working in hexadecimals, but we'll see how it goes. I'm able to access much more information in real time than I can with my tuner, perhaps this will help me get a bit more comfortable with the truck. Thanks for the recommends, guys. I do pay attention, it just takes a while.
  3. The annual pilgrimage south to RacerXX is coming soon. I often bring parts and accessories along with me for those who would like to save on the cost of shipping. If you're needing parts for your XX, I still have way too much for my own use. Speak up now, as it can take some time to dig through the piles given the cold and deep snow. .
  4. Holy cow. And I gave up the idea of putting ABS on an XX. Dude, there are not enough years in your life to accomplish this. Swap engines or give it up.
  5. The last time I threw stuff out and admitted it, I was chastised for not posting up first. So here we are. I just broke down an injected XX engine for a forum member who needed a set of cases, so I have all the eviscerant available if anyone is looking for XX guts. And of course, you all know to contact me for all matter of leftover XX parts, they come and go pretty regularly here. 😁
  6. Update, ordered 2 used sensors off a wrecked truck from a junkyard in Louisianna or some godawful place for $30 off ebay. They had multiple pictures of the truck they were parting out and it was well wrecked and lower mileage, so I took a light risk they were good. It took a month or so to get them. Heated up the bungs and got the old ones out without grief, no-seized up the "new" ones and popped them in, took about an hour laying on the frozen driveway. Truck has been error free since. Bought a new OEM one off ebay for $30 to put in the glovebox, I don't want to be in mid-bumfuck and have one let go again without a spare.
  7. Yeah, so respect your elders, colonists or not. 😜
  8. 50 years ago I was dating a lovely lass who's mother was cockney.
  9. British humor does take a bit of time, doesn't it? 😜
  10. I actually saw one of them. A Robin, I mean. Back to the original youtube, I hadn't considered the car would be quite that light, and laughed like hell when he picked it up and wheeled it into work like a hand truck.
  11. This is the state of healthcare at this time. 20-30% of front line workers are out sick. the rest of us are just bailing.
  12. Break? Bill, some people at work wear attends because there's no opportunity to go to the bathroom. Not to derail my own thread.............
  13. Yep. Just have to get the generator mounted to power it.
  14. Update on the 6.4. Finally got the EGT sensors I ordered and found a day that wasn't snowing, raining, or 20 degrees out AND I didn't feel like I recently lost a UFC fight. Changed out both proximal and distal cat EGT sensors. Truck has about 12 starts and 50 miles on it in short jaunts without a hitch. It feels a little brighter as well. So we'll see. The 6.0 turned out to have a lot more cab rust than the guy realized or related. Oh well. Stay the course.
  15. You are correct, I'm typing through a foggy mind. Thank you for catching that. Stock chain length is 110 links.
  16. I think I hit 70mph in 1st gear a couple weeks ago.....because I could. 😊
  17. I never had to change the chain going to 18 or 16. Regularity/irregularity with different combination is a concept I don't recall ever considering. Interesting point. I have a hard time imagining it would make a difference in the real world, but if you're racing for a world championship, or building a chain drive spaceship, might be something worth considering.
  18. Okay. Bottom line, its your choice as to what works for you. 17/45 is stock gearing. I've heard the Aussies mention that they had an option of 44 or 45 from the dealer, maybe it was a "dealer installed" option. Why a smaller rear sprocket? Have you ever been to Australia? It makes eastern Washington look overpopulated. Making gas last 20 more miles is really a good thing. Anyway, as has been said, lots of folks go up or down a tooth on the front rather than change the rear. Remember, one tooth on the front equals three on the rear sprocket. My advice is to go with stock and the dampened (factory) front sprocket. The OEM rear sprockets wear like the good steel that they are. You may not need them. I've run all three front sprockets at the dragstrip, 16, 17, and 18. The 16 was the slowest as I had to back off a little at the start for to keep the front end down. 17 ran out of revs, 18 suffered the extra shift, so they came out the same. I'm not fast, between 10.5 and 11.0 if I had a good day I've run 18 tooth in the more recent years. That includes two up with luggage on tight switchbacks, the bike will pull the extra gear. That's probably 300 pounds more than you if your picture is recent. Right now, I have an 18 tooth front with a 44 rear. Its smooth, quiet, clutches off fine, but backroad passing lunges need three clicks down, not two, and it doesn't have that instant pull at highway speeds that is so nice. Lastly, an 18/45 combination puts your speedo right on the money. But your odometer will be off and you'll have to adjust that before you can figure your actual gas mileage. Or just wonder why you suddenly went from 45 to 38mpg. I've always used DID Xring chain on the XX when I could afford it. There are stronger versions, the 9800 lb rating of the stock chain is good enough unless you have engine mods, track every weekend, or ride like a dickhead. Stronger chains are heavier and add weight where you don't need it. Search the online motorcycle sites and ebay/amazon for deals. Don't search for an XX, just search for DID chain. Stock sprocket chain length is 115 links. Its not uncommon to find something that's longer for less money. Just cut off the extra and throw it in a box because someday, if you're like me, you will get a brand new chain for free...you'll just have to get 11 new master links.
  19. I got this in a priority mail envelope yesterday. No return address. Hmmmm...
  20. Hey Mike, thanks for the bump. No parts unless I strike a deal with someone that just wants the basic bike. I do plan to reassemble this runner, but at the same time decrease my environmental footprint. Right now I need at least an acre of area just to put all my shit in one place.
  21. Good luck with that. Right now they are both covered with snow. And every vehicle i have is for sale. Come and get them.
