  1. How do the caliper bolts look? Any wear? Brake pads and rotors wearing uniformly?
  2. 8k is the point where the conductor in these plugs begins to not conduct as efficiently as the conductors in new plugs resulting in less efficient combustion. That is the theory.
  3. The real question is how much unburned gas was getting past those plugs along with lost power and mileage. I can usually smell unburned exhaust gas slightly before the 8k mark on the plugs.
  4. BMW Sport grips on all the bikes...
  5. I have one. I think they are expensive for what you get. Alot of it depends on technique. I am on my third set of tires with the no mar and still struggle a bit. The bead breaker attachment broke on my second tire and was replaced after 3 or 4 weeks and some prompting.
  6. The Corbin carbon fiber GF&L works much better than stock for me. Several 1000+ miles days one 1500+ day. I use Lexol to clean the Corbin. If you are going to do regular 1000+ mile days get spend a bit more and get a custom seat for around $500.
  7. No idea what he was smoking. I think he may have gotten the diesel from common hose station where they do unleaded and diesel from the same hose. Don't think he did it on purpose since he bought a gas can to get the gas. Just a mistake. Like me running out of gas. I need to start carrying a water bottle of gas. Or get a 5 GAL fuel cell. Ran out of gas into a headwind in Panhandle TX a few weeks ago while running a BBG. to ABQ. I was laughing alone on I-40. Luckily the cell phone worked. 1 reached out and touched the tow truck guy with gas. $20/GAL which I was very happy to pay. Actually he wanted $12.50 I gave $20. Jim
  8. After draining all the diesel and refilling with fresh gas, run a bottle of Techron FI cleaner through. The Techron can be had at Chevrons and Walmarts for $7 to $10. Been there done that. Ran out of gas a few months ago and had a knucklehead Suzuki SV650 rider bring me some diesel. Jim
  9. Thanks David sounds and looks like what I am looking for.... Jim
  10. Pete in PA if we ever meet IOU a beverage of your choice... Sad but true confession I troll Walmart on occasion for the sole purpose of scoring the 5QT red label Mobil 1 15/50. As well as other items for M/C purposes. The camping and marine sections are target rich in M/C purpose items.... Walmart has not had these in the Dallas area in over six months, since last fall when I stocked up.. I went to Wallyworld and scored (4) 5QT red tops plus several other items for about $100 or the cost of the first and last time I took a bike to a dealer for an oil/filter change. The buzzards had already begun to pick the red tops from the fray of blue and green tops. I literally whooped at finding red tops on the end cap....Glad no one was around. He shoots he scores. Scored all the items on my list in one store tonight... Jim
  11. Dale, You are using the ZG Smoked Sport Touring screen? How is that working out? I am 5/8 and would like to try this screen but am worried about turbulent/dirty air around the helmet...I prefer clean air flowing past the helmet... Any trouble with the tint at night? Do you look through the screen at night. I was also thinking the tint might help with glaring cager headlights at night. How is the screen working for you? I would like to try this screen but am too chicken shit to part with the cash w/o knowing if it is right for me and the XX.

    Grips

The pro grips are very nice and spongy. I have also used the BMW grips which are very nice also. The BMW grips are tapered small on the inside and larger towards the bar end. They work nicely for me on longer trips when my hands are seeking larger or smaller grip diameters for comfort.... They are a bit pricey at $7 to $10 per grip dependent on BMW stealer.... Jim
  13. I have used the Amsoil 10/40 MC oil and oil filters in the XX but found the Amsoil 10/40 a bit thin in the summer. I.E. lots of CCT noise... Amsoil MC oil has no moly... I was going to use the Amsoil 20/50 MC oil but the cheapest I could get it was in the $6QT range vs $3.25/QT for the last Mobile 1 I bought.. I am using the M1 15/50 since it is cheaper at 5Q/$18.88 than I can get the Amsoil 20/50 MC oil. The only difference seems to be price/QT the protection seems to be comperable.. The Amsoil oil filter was fine. About the same price as OEM so I use OEM.... Jim
  14. I just got two AV46ST rears. Must be ordering from the wrong place..... Side note I have seen several ZZR12's on the roads in Texas...
