  1. Great service, great prices on what I ordered, and they shipped the day I ordered. It just doesn't get any better than that.
  2. Hi, and welcome to the club. I haven't heard or read anything about that, so I will pass on to those who are more familiar about these things than I am. Where in Richmond? I live in williamsburg, but am building a house in Chesterfield which will be finished in October. A few Virginia folks around. A lot of people, including me, swear by the Purolator Pure One oil filter. Fits perfectly, is considered to be the #1 oil filter made my several tests (FWIW), and can be had for $5 at Advance Auto Parts. filter part number: PL14612. Griff
  3. All good answers. Don't forget the cheap and easy partial solution - Gel Grips...... every little bit helps. I forgot the exact make and size that everyone around here swears by, but somebody will chime in.
  4. Purolater Pure One part number PL14612. Widely considered one of the finest filters, cage or bike, anywhere. Nuff said.

    Tire Change

Can a ten-thumbed knucklefuck like me handle this? If so, I am all over this. Just another knotch on the "I'm never taking my bike to the stealer again" belt.
  6. Like above. You can get a breaker bar anywhere: Sears, Home Depot, Lowes. It makes the job easy. And NEVER use a torque wrench to loosen.
  7. Some bikes the light comes on early. 6.3 gal of fuel times 36 mpg (my worst case unless I am doing some serious flogging) equals 227 miles. 210 is safe, so I don't care when the fuel light comes on.
  8. So I'm guessing it went well and you are living up to your screen name?
  9. Huge avatar...... do you think he is compensating for something!!!
  10. Do a search in the Garage section here. There have been some good threads on this issue. You might need to go back a ways. I believe the consensus was that there are some bulbs out there that are much better than OEM.
  11. Not real long at 7.5 inches, but I'm as wide as a beer can.
  12. In my quest to find a silicate-free coolant, one that isn't Honda (at $3.99 a bottle around here) or Havaline Dex-Cool (because of all the contradictory reports), I may have found something. Does anybody have any experience with the Toyota coolant? From their little coupon flier they just sent out, "Genuine Toyota Long Life Antifreeze Coolant provides maximum protection during the dog days of summer. Traditional coolants contain abrasive silicates that can erode water pump seals. Our phosphate-based formula is compatible with non-metallic materials, makig it seal friendly." Bueller?
  13. OK, got it. I learn slow, but I do learn. So what's a good coolant, I don't give a damn what color, that doesn't have any silicate inhibitors? Other than Honda which is a PIA to get to during working hours.
  14. Man, you must have really been slummin! We really do need to get together for a ride one day, if you'll let an old, slow guy ride with you for a while. Pete - I am glad you've had good luck with it. I'm kind of stuck now if I want to leave the stuff in or not. It's only been a little over a month and about 1K miles.
  15. +1. I've been running it also. Time to move back to the Honda coolant.
  16. Hi and welcome. Don't let your troubles get you down on the Bird. They are normally bulletproof. 12K now on a '97? I'd replace the plugs while you are in there. Do a search and find Dale's (Warchild's) sight (or I am sure someone has the link handy) for an easy plug swap. That, plus the above, I bet you will be find. Stick around. OK, here's Dale's site: http://www.superblackbird.com/default.cfm
  17. Ditto Redbird. The instruction on Dale's (Warchild's) site is excellent. If I can do it, anybody can.
  18. So Mr. Studley is a student (from his profile) in Reedsburg, population <10K. Staggering. It looks like a lovely little town, and they do have a Norman Rockwell museum and a decent size regional airport there. That's about it, well maybe a DQ and a Hardees for him to cruise with his friends. Biggest employer - Land's End at 900. Maybe he works for the Gerber baby food company, with 350 employees (probably taste testers). Are there any colleges there? Didn't see any. We're not getting wound up about a little boy playing with daddy's bike, are we? That may not have even been his real address. Does your daddy know you're playing with the big kids now? Do you know who your daddy is?
  19. I think that is the first smart thing you have said here. You started this thread off OK. I'm glad you asked the question, and your question was far better than some of the stupid ones I have asked. Old adage = no stupid questions...And maybe BDAZ could have responded a little better. But you have gone out of your way to be a prick since then. You think you can ride? Well, I'd put cash money on any number of riders who live around Madison or Reedsburg who you will only see from behind. Please go somewhere else, Squidly. Have a nice day.

    Oil Filter

You ought to hang around on the board a little more. You'd learn these things! you might even get that post count up a little!

    Oil Filter

Ditto Pete. The Pure One I think has been rated as the best out there in several publications. I think either Carlos or Dale first sent the word out around here. Then again if you are using WD40 or cooking oil, you probably don't beed no stinking filter.
  22. You guys are the best!!! Ass sex for everyone..... ......I'll give you my ex-wife's address!!! Dale - as always, thanks for your help. Griff
  23. Swapping the plugs (finally) and I am following Warchild's instructions to the 'T' (so far). Of course he says be very carefull when removing the IAT off of the air cleaner housing. So trying to be careful, how does the connector come off? Does the connector need to come off, or can I just unscrew the sensor and remove it all from the air cleaner housing? If the connector must be disengaged first, is there a tab to push, or a certain twist, or a straight lift, or magic words to say??? Thanks
