  1. Wow! Good luck with your sale Sean, your XX is set up nicely and will make someone real happy at a great price. No way I could sell mine, it's been with me longer than any bike I have ever owned, I'd never be happy with the actual price or trade I'd get for it and besides it's like part of the family like our dog and if he ain't going neither is the XX.
  2. It just comes natural for me, like misspelling words........... :icon_doh:
  3. I also hear that it show's it's riders ablitities on tight and twisty California roads pretty quickly...........
  4. Beautiful bike and the perfect color, your going to regret it....... Might be why I can't part with mine.... Good luck with your sale, someone is going to get a nice one.
  5. Just looking to see if anyone has one laying around before I run to the dealer. Let me know.
  6. If anyone has a reasonably priced source for the OEM Stator and RR please let me know, I'm considering just shotgunning the whole works and being done with it.
  7. Indeed I did, Now I am only getting 12.5 back at the battery, did I not solder the 3 wires from the stator in the correct sequence? All is running well. Even my tach is working well. Go figure. I just broke the connector apart and cleaned up the wires, soldered them together, heat shrink then electrical tape. So far so good. I guess it was just a corroded connector. Great to hear, that's exactly what I'm going to do with mine. Well, how's it coming? Did you fix the old girl up yet?

  9. Well you can add me to the "Cooked Connector" list, very new stator and R-1 RR but I did make use of the original connector's when I replaced the old. Guess I'll just strip, solder, heat shrink the wires straight through and see how that holds up, any update on how your's is doing Brian?
  10. Very fun car Sold mine back in 04, wish I would have kept it
  11. Yes. Ok, my only concern would have been on limiting the amount the bulb enters the headlight assy, if no ill lighting effects it would seem as another viable way to install them. That, or you could be non-conformist and put the spacers on the back of the lamp housing and insert the bulb through them. Being in that configuration the bulb glass would be in direct contact w/ the spacer, I understand why Eric suggested using as stated below.
  12. The foam ring withstood the heat? I've not done anything yet, but for those who did the hose washer route, any problems to report? I doubt I have any spare spark plug wire lying around. Yes sir, it sure has as of 4 years and counting, It didn't look like it was exposed to any real heat upon my last inspection..the ring is outside of the projector assembly so I'm sure any heat is pretty minimal. Not sure I understand your method, so the spacer "shim" would go over the glass portion of the bulb and then slide down to the base of it? Then of course put into the projector assembly? I didn't think anything should get in the way of the bulb being inserted into the assembly as far as it would allow. Others have cut the original spacer off of the stock bulb and utilized it in the stock position but I preferred not to cut into the stock spacer....not that it would be that hard to buy another if you were pressed to put it all back to stock form.
  13. Exactly ^ If you put the bulb in and swing the retaining wire over you will notice that it will not cinch down tight enough to hold the bulb in it's proper place. Now I did not use the garden hose washers as other had suggested, I used the foam ring that was included in the original packaging that my bulbs came in over 4 yrs ago.....(gasp).... Had to replace one bulb a few months back, think it may have become a victim of my stator/RR going south but just speculating on that...anyhoo the packing foam ring I had used worked very well and only showed crushing in the area it was under pressure...no spontaneous combustion or anything......
  14. 65K I have had a very light past 3 years but I think I will be making up for that shortly..... Oh and nothing major to go bad other than a new R/R and Stator.
  15. A little WD40 into the tubes then try and place the bar securely overhead (clamped if possible) and pull downward using your body weight as the force, but be carefull not to fall on your butt or pop youself in the face because the innards will come out nice and quick.
  16. Holy thread bump Batman!!! I don't feel I "dogged" you per say but I know you enjoy the wheelies and I put 2 & 2 together, I don't know what you told him when he bought it so maybe he misunderstood what you descibed to him. :icon_think: This thread is over 4 years old....we need relationship counseling if we are ever going to repair it.. But you never show up at the meetings.... Pretty small world in the XX community if I can identify your ride after you sold it.... And yes I can testify that you are very proficient at teh wheelies.... Hope you are doing great as well Jimmy and you know I love you. :icon_comeheresign:
  17. +1 I just finished mine and the difference is very apparent, now I feel how crappy my stock rear shock really is...
  18. I have a little of that problem myself, Big hands suck... I have found that some gloves don't grab it as much, also having maybe a lip or raised edge of the handgrip helped keep the edge of my hand from engaging it. Fuck I only installed it for the "looks" I never use it, its so much easier to use the NEP than the TM....
  19. I just kept telling myself that one day I'd put it all back to stock and sell it, I can now see that day will probably never come... As for my forks which set do you prefer? I could let go of my salad forks but no way I let my dinner forks go...salad eaters....vegan cake eaters....
  20. I have a set of stock exhaust cans, a stock seat, some stock turn signal lenses, a pair of stock bar ends, some slightly used (65k) stock fork springs, 1 stock headlight bulb, some stock fairing bolts (the dimpled ones) in various sizes, the little sticker that tells you which way to turn the key in the ignition (don't ask I ordered it by accident ), a pair of the clip rings that keep the stock bars from going past the top of the fork tubes, a pair of stock clipons, and maybe a useable LP tank bra in black...... Not sure if any of that helps....
  21. Took a picture of mine, not sure I could post it only using my iPhone so I'll give it a try...
  22. I need that $50 rear wheel, let me know shipped to 92583 please.
