  1. I think xxman is trying to replace the actual low fuel light in the gas gauge itself and not just the dash lights, I haven't messed with my light itself and I do hope it stays functional for the duration but the thought of it failing has crossed my mind, I guess you could look at the schematic for starters, I'd bet it's soldered in, but not impossible to replace, maybe even swap in a different colored led for a nice on the eyes effect (green or blue) the red light on mine is very hard to ignore it's that bright when I'm low on fuel.
  2. Congrats! I run the cheap gas, it did matter with my Hurricane but not at all with the Bird, has dat fancy electronic ignition that retards the timing before it knocks.
  3. Hi, I have owned the bike since 02-03, It had about 13K on it when I bought it but was in showroom condition. I put a lot of the mile on it early in my ownership of it as it was my main mode of transport to work and back. I pretty much handled all of the maintenance on it as I have a distrust for most dealers. I feel this bike is in fantastic shape for its age and I wouldn't have any problem jumping on it and going on any length of trip, like a fine wine it seems to get better with age. Thanks Joe. It is like saying bye to an old friend but I'll be back on another ride at some point in the near future. I have had 3 Nigerian scammers hit me up on it from the C/l ad, and one interesting trade offer for another bike and jet ski combo trade deal....lol...
  4. Thanks Dave, now I have all the "warm and fuzzy" feelings now..... I'm sure I will find another bike at some point in the future.
  5. I'll have to maybe edit that now. I'm thinking something less aggressive, metric cruiser possibly but sometime in the future, I feel I can be all right being "bikeless" for a while.
  6. The time has come for me to move on. It was the finest thing on two wheels I have ever owned. Thanks all.
  7. Have you heard of Craigslist? Last time I looked the place was littered with cheap ones.
  8. For a 00, I guess 99 and up are compatible.
  9. I'm going to need you to dig around in that garage a lil longer........... I have one attached to my '03. It's $4500 but comes with a complete bike for free. If I didn't already have a fully functional XX I'd be all over yours Keith, very nice bike btw.
  10. Just seeing if anyone has one of the CBR XX logo'd full tank skins in good condition they would part with like the ones originally a part of Texhoss's group buy a while back, made by Second Look. LMK.
  11. No problem, I had enough after the second time the wiring fried, if you go with OEM parts check out Chaparral Motorsports for parts, I think I paid about $370 for both the stator and RR. Hope it works out for you.
  12. I had run into the same problem, about a year and a half ago I replaced my stator with a Ricks model, bought the R1 RR and the pigtail kit from Mike. I soldered all the wiring together nice and tight, used shrink tubing and electrical tape to secure the work and keep it nice and dry. About 6 months later my bike died on me, come to find out the wiring fried and shorted out the main fuse. The stator was still putting out good numbers but the R1 RR wasn't doing it's part, so I bought a new one, repaired all the fried wiring, sealed it up and was good for close to a year, noticed this time the wiring was getting crispy before it stranded me, same thing though and not due to any water intrusion. Fed up I went and bought the OEM RR, and stator, this was about 4 months ago, no troubles to report, I can tell you I'm never going with aftermarket parts on either of these on this bike as long as I own it. I know my issues were not related to any water being in the wrong spots, I do think the aftermarket stator was really my issue, but your issue may be different than mine, or not.
  13. I have to say "not normal" Most people swap out those hot, heavy, ugly ass stock canisters.
  14. Thanks for the advice I rode it in to work this morning, roughly 60 miles with a small 3 mile twisty section at the end of the trip. Felt as all have described, the turn in was noticeably different, definitely needed more effort to lean it over, the straight stuff on the freeway felt fine, maybe better than fine as the tire it replaced had been down to the wear bars and beyond a bit, could be just the new rubber talking to me though... Seeing as how it will most likely see a large amount of freeway miles I feel better about sacrificing it to the aphalt gods... It's a Shinko, pretty sure I'll be going back to the 180 on the Bird after this ones cooked.
  15. So I bought a rear rim that had a 190 mounted already, the thing is the tire is dang near new heck it still has the little nubs showing on it. I don't have another use for this tire if I take it off and the type of riding I am doing lately is just about all commuting so I am wrecking the center of all the tires I have had on the rear. I'm not riding anything remotely fun so would it be any risk in trying to get close to 10k of commuting miles out of this 190 without any issue?
  16. I would like to get $100 that includes shipping WHEEL HAS BEEN SOLD What brand are the sprockets and how many teeth? Also, what condition are they in? I'll let you know when they arrive.
  17. OEM filter from any fair dealing Honda shop is $40. I get about 2 year's use out of one. On odd winters I gently brush out any debris from the intake side and clean out the airbox. I only do this because I find the K&N costs me a touch more in gas mileage, but I saved the K&N in case I ever want to go back to it. Of course, my PCII is programed to produce maximum gas mileage, so there's no incentive to go aftermarket on filter and pipes. So $30.36 from Chaparral Motorsports would be a great price on one. No shipping needed as I will have a nice reason to shop around their store.
  18. I could use one but do not want the 190 on it, I'm not good with "make an offer" but if you send me a price shipped to 92583 with the tire removed we could begin negotiations.
  19. Not too far off topic but what does the OEM air filter go for these day's and does anyone have a line on them? Thinking about going away from the K&N.
