  1. I got a Vista from John and did a little mod on the installation and have found that it works pretty well for me and campared to the cost of the other ones out there, i have to vote for the vista cruise. Jet
  2. Cruise control is for old guys !! Or lazy guys, or guys with arthritis in their hands. Or old guys. I think I fit all three categories, thank you very much. Yep i seem to fit 2 out of 3 of those categories. Jet

    Coolant Mix

According to Honda, the Honda coolant is used right from the bottle straight. Jet

I know, I'm open for criticism. The bike is just so powerful I have not found the need to go beyond 6k. I know there is a lot of chatter on this forum about rev limiters and high RPM's, but just never felt compelled to do it. I'm the same way with the cars; very conservative and very seldom do I floor it unless I need to. I have a trip to Lock Haven the weekend of 10/13 to meet up with a group of Canadians driving down from Toronto and maybe I'll give it a go at the higher RPM's then. I run the premium because BJ's sells it and they don't have a Plus grade. An extra 25 cents a gallon and I do feel the difference. Mike Well from what all you guys are telling me my winter project for the bike is decided, as well as having a shop paint my fairings. Stock Honda CBR1100XX black, however if i wasn't so anal about some things i could have them paint it to match the 06 Euro paint scheme. Stock black is fine with me though. Jet

You are killing me, "Sell It" Maybe i give it to the wife and get myself an EFI Blackbird. Jet Nope, it is a bone stock 97 with a k&n airfilter. Jet I have to do something in the am then study for a final, do you go on rides frequently during the week if so you need to let me know i would join. Jet.

Just had a friend of mine put the XX on a dyno, just to see what it is doing, it is leaning out. First question? What airfilter? K&N, he recommends shimming the valves and upsizing the jets but the bike leaned out to the point where he stopped the pull, also stock pipes. Comments anyone? thanks Jet.
  8. Thanks Mike. That's what I usually do. The bearing distributor I use carries Nachi bearings and they match to the #'s listed in the microfiche on both the front and rear bearings. I've replaced the fronts a couple of years ago but forget which #'s they were. I wanted to pick up the bearings on lunch today so I'd have them to change after work tonight. Generally speaking what is a sign you might need to replace them, my bike is just turning 9K and i know they have never been done, a friend of mine that had a CBR 1K told me this is a pretty routine item for replacement. 9. My last check was 43mpg, and that is just normal sane riding commuting to and from work, however if i go to guns with it 37. My pilot jets need to go into the ultrasonic cleaner also. Jet

    Dynojet

My experience with cars, if you're going to go fast it will take some gas, same with the bike, if you go with a djet kit, your mileage will drop, right now i get 43 mpg with stock carbs. My mission is for a good commuter and errand runner. Plenty fast is a stock XX. The decision to get a djet kit is entirely up to the mission, and the master. But you really need to check the a/f as well. Installation could be a rip off if you don't have the ability to do it your self. Jet
  12. Replacing the low beam will only make the low beam brighter. Since both lights are on when the high beam is on you might notice it being brighter closer to the bike. I put a 100W in the high beam and it really lights up the road when I turn it on. What then would you reccomend be replaced both and with what? Jet
  13. I cleaned my jets without pulling the carbs off, it was pretty ok job, but it did cure my bad idle issue. Jet
  14. +1. I use 6th all the time on the highway. Makes the tank last longer. It only takes half a second to click down twice and go! So far i have had my '97' for 1k miles, and on the highway cruising in 6th low rpm's, fine for sipping fuel, 38 mpg, however to get away from the asshole tailgater, drop 2 cogs and the bullet is ripping. At highway speed not too far over the limit, 70-80, the bird will "bog" a little in 6th, i am only taching 4.5k maybe, but like i said drop 2 cogs and hang on for the ride. Jet
