  1. I have to agree, loud pipes save lives. I know i know, it really annoys the hell out of people, but on my Ducati Monster, people could hear me coming a long way back and were always looking at me in their rearview. On my bird, even with staintunes (Australian), I feel much more vulnerable to cagers...
  2. Yeah. Possibly you need some new brake pads. Was thinking that, but it seems to have pleanty of pad left...
  3. If I apply the brakes lightly, it makes the noise (which by the way are bloody loud, everyone can hear them from a least 50metres away!). After I release the brakes, the noise is there again until the speed pics up... It is very very very annoying. I think I may just go and get it serviced by some reputable dealer... I don't think I have the guts to pull it all apart. Could it be something else?
  4. Hello, After I apply the front/rear brakes, there is a noise (on at a certain point on the disc) at low speeds that is related to the pads touching the disc. Do I just get the disc machined, or do I pull apart the brakes and see if its not returning by itself? Could this be related to bleeding, the brakes do not feel spongy... I'm confused and really annoyed by this noise...please help! :icon_pray:
  5. I was just making the point that perhaps it may be a good idea to see what is available. A quick search (lasting approx. 3 minutes) will give him an idea to the screens people are talking about here (with pics also). I was just being a smart arse I hope people realise that...
  6. I seriously think you need to think what you need the screen for. Aesthetics??? Go a double bubble like mine (Powerbronze). OEM look? Go for a straight replacement or something similar with added tint. Want to go touring? Get a touring windshield (which IMO look gay, but are outstanding against wind). So the question you should ask youself is not which screen, but what do I want from the screen...then go and look for something suitable. Also, I will take the laziness out of it for you. Here are your google search words: windscreen cbr1100xx Done, easy as that... :icon_duh:
  7. Yeah, the boys and the kangaroos out here....those furry little mungrels... OK 140mph, so thats like 224, yeah I can manage that this avo...
  8. Wheepeeee!!! Thanks everyone, especially 02Bird and Obby...she's running once more. I still think she might need better spark plugs though... maybe on the weekend....
  9. Couple of questions. Does a higher octane fuel burn cooler than a lower octane fuel? I was told this by a car drag racer. Does running a higher octane keep your cylinders & heads cleaner from carbon deposits? The guy I bought my 2002 Bird from(original owner) only ran 92 octane(7000 miles) Am I wasting money by running 92 or 93? Thanks! I heard it runs hotter. From my karting days, a number of people metioned to me that higher octane burns at a higher temp, which burns up the deposits..I could be wrong though...
  10. Um, can you please explain where I shut the fuel off? Amateur question I know...but I don't know much about this bird...
  11. Can I just ask why people put power commanders on their bike? I mean how fast do you really want to go? The bird has so much balls stock, I am amazed why people do this...but thats just me I guess...I would spend my money on sound...
  12. Higher octane fuel is good...stops knocking, "feels" like it has more power (although this might purely be psychological) and usually octane boost keeps your cylinder in much better condition due to the higher burn temps...I tend to put in a bottle of octane booster (3 point increase) approximately every 5 tankfulls..
  13. Hello everyone, Got home from work, wanted to go for a quick blast. Put on choke as far she'll go, she fired up no worries. Bike is idling and I start hearing this sound from the front of the bike (sounds like the clutch basket?). Anyway, so I give it a rev or two...she doesn;t want to go past 3000-4000rpm, rpms start to drop and she dies! End of story...I tried to get it going, she's cranking over, and cranking over but nothing fires...sounds like fouled plugs, right? I might get the self cleaning type we can buy here in Australia, they might do the trick..oh, I hope its only the plugs... Q. Which panels do I have to remove to get to the spark plugs???
  14. Synchronising...thats it...is it difficult to do? What about valve clearances, how much is the expected charge from a dealer? I want my spaceship to run even better and I think its due for some sort of service after 74K..
  15. Hello, Just wondering if you can adjust the carbies/timing/anything else during a service.... I know nothing about engines/carbs, so I'm just wondering if I can take it to a dealer and say "check the timing please, or, adjust the carby please"....that may make my baby go better...any help appreciated. AND, if so, how much does this sort of thing usually cost???
