  1. I am interested in this as well I have been thinking about getting a pair. Here are the ones currently listed on ebay. Do you have any votes on what would most likely be the best? I guess I dont see a whole lot of difference, but at the same time any of these are cheaper then replacing a faring. So I wouldnt mind spending the money if they are worth it. frame plugs

I know everyones going to laugh, but here goes. Go to the hardware store and buy the chrome plugs that are used to cover the holes in a stainless steel sink. The swing arm holes require a 2.5 in plug that only comes with a screw welded in. I took a wire nut, pushed it into the swingarm axle, marked it, cut it off and then drilled and taped the wire nut. Tap the wire nut back into the hollow swingarm axle and then screw the plug in. All this sounds cheesy but they look and work great. The smaller ones just press into the frame holes. Total cost $12.00 Hope this helps Steve Pictures? This sounds interesting
  3. I agree I think the 9a's are the irridiums the estimated life is much greater then the standard plugs. dont know if thats true but thats what i run and nothing seems to be wrong
  4. I'd like to know more about turning my running lights OFF. I have some high dollar chrome plated squid bulbs and I want to show em off. Does it matter which button on the bulb must be coverd in order to turn the running lamps off or will either button do?
  5. I have Two Brothers CarbonFiber with C5 cans. The sound is AMAZING: Deep, Low, and Super Tuned, I'd say they are moderatly loud, but at highway speeds the sound is not too audible at all. However everyone knows that a serious machine is coming when they hear the XX with the 2Bros. Unfortunatly for me those people are usually the local five0. The bike looks and sounds fast and for what every reason it seems that my XX w/ 2Bros is Public Enemy Number One. I dont think I drew nearly the same amount of attention from the police before as i do now with the TwoBros.
  6. I specially ground down my filter wrench for the XX and said hello to 12 minute oil changes. My filter wrench before required some serious wiggling to get on and off the filter, I grinded about 1/4" of and its a breeze now!
  7. Wow your XX looks fast! job well done. I was curious though, what type of exhaust is that?
  8. hm... I was under the impression that since Metzler and Perelli are basically one company, the Z6 and stradas were basically the same tire with a slightly different tread pattern? They are in many respects the same they use similar rubber compounds, but the Metzlers ahve a flatter profile the Stradas have a sharper profile. I chose the Metzlers because they have a flatter contour and for this reason I thought they would work better for my straight shot riding.
  9. Well I went ahead and ordered a new Z6 rear and a M3 for the front from swmototires so in a few weeks I should have a few thousand miles on them and will report on the new M3's!
  10. The Pirelli Diablo Stradas, and the Metzler Z6's are prety similar. The rubber compound is comparable, but the Z6 is a little harder and I think you will get a few more miles. The Stradas on my friends FJR1300 lasted a little over 4500 we often ride together and my Metz lasted 6200. The Pirelli Diablo Stradas may be best if you ride really aggressive and still put on alot of miles. The profile compairing the Stradas with the Metz Z6 is vastly different. the Stradas have a much sharper profile, I imagine they turn in and handle amazingly! I ride moderatly aggressive and in Kansas the roads are long and straight for this reason the Metz combo works best for me. In my opinion if i were to ever run anything be the Metzlers it would without a single doubt be the Pirelli Diablo Stradas
  11. I have never run the Michelins. I went from the Dunlop 208's to the Metzlers. This is the second set of M1/Z6's and I am thrilled with them. I was curious about an M3 front since the articles make it sound like a long lasting M1, and that is certainly not a bad thing. I do it all on my XX and the Metzlers always handle it perfectly.
  12. I use JT Sprockets. 16T front 45T rear. They are the JT steel sprockets and i imagine they will last a very long time. The 16T is awsome for acceleration but I have bounced the rev limited a couple of times and I NEVER did that with the 17T sprocket. Also the 16T makes your speedo quite a ways off. I tour with my 16T and it doesnt bother me I have 2bros exhaust and the added revs arnt annoying to me really. i just love ALWAYS being right in the power I've got a chrome plated rear sprocket and it looks sharp, I paired it with a DID gold X-ring chain and the chrome and gold really look good with the Carbon Fiber Two-Bros my mid pipes are slightly gold. I have 3000 miles on this combo and so far so good. the only neg I have with my set up is the DID 110link chain was too long and 109 would have been too short. So I just mounted the chain in the nearly worn out position and rode it like that for about 2000 miles the chain streteched just enough to take out the extra link and now it fits perfectly.
  13. I am thinking I will run a Metzler M3/Z6 combo, anyone on the forum running the new M3's yet? a product review please. From all the magazine reviews they sound good, but magazines rarely ride the tires for more then an afternoon. I know the M3's are supposed to have the same characteristics as the M1's but last alot longer. I was hopeing someone here is running the M3/Z6 combo or even running M3's front and rear and could comment on them. I will most certainly go with the Z6 rear but I am debating between M1 and M3. thanks for any advice you guys have! I am currently running the M1/Z6 and have zero complaints. BUT at 6200 miles they seem to be pretty much shot. No cords yet but they just dont feel right anymore
  14. I was thinking this as well. Also 7/8 is awfully tight. When you lower the bike back on the ground and you are sitting on it the chain may just be too tight, and thats most certainly not a good thing. I would also do what chaserkeywest said and lube and work the chain, if its been sitting it is likely to be a little rusy in areas and a little tight in areas, so give it the attention it needs. And remember a new $120-150 chain only seems expensive until it breaks and messes everything up!
  15. I dont know what gearing your currently running, but in the Quarter mile a 16T front sprocket makes the XX much faster. Since most of us only run in the low 130mph's in the quarter the 16t is a good option, and with a little practice launches can be very powerful and efficient, this should help in your hunting of ZX12's and busas
  16. What type of quarter mile times are you turning with your nitrous? Where is thelocation of your purge valve? and also what is the red thing up on the top of the side faring? are you running your horn button as the GO! button? how did you wire that up, pictures would be helpful! thanks in advance
  17. beondwacko Thanks so much for your help! I will be jumping on this project this winter as well. I just wanted to get started now so i can do some good shopping around
  18. so the ebay link along with a fuel pump is all i will need? I wont have to retard timing or screw with my a/f ratio?
  19. Thanks for the link, I am curious to how much I will have to mess with my a/f ratio. Like I said I ride the XX about 13,000 miles a year and I sure dont want to sacrafice much performance, since like you I will only be spraying the nitrous for fun everyonce and a while. I suppose if i must make the bike run too rich when I am without the NO2 it may not be worth it to me.
  20. Thanks man I cant wait. take plenty of pictures please! and keep a list of the stuff you use I am anxious to get the spray on my XX.
  21. First off let me tell you that is the best reason ive heard for wanting the nitrous! Other wise I hang my head in shame because I think your right. I was more worried about hooking it all up, I never imagined the bottle would be the biggest problem! And my idea of one sneaky pete off my custom bracket is not enough juice to even bother! maybe I will do some finagglin and see if there is a way to make that bracket idea hold two bottles.
  22. I am actually thinking I could fab a very simple brakcet that would bolt to the rear frame. I was thinking on the right side through the hole on the rear faring and to the rear frame. I believe with a little work i could put one super slim 10oz bottle. The second 10 ozbottle would go in the tool spot under the seat like you were talking. The left side hole is filled with the grab handle to put the bike on the centerstand but the right hand side between the faring and silencer would be a perfect spot. Tell me if you see a problem with this idea. is there a kit that all the parts come in? and do you have an idea of what a set up like you speak of would cost.
  23. No thanks I'm thinking 30 will get the job done just fine. If i cant run someone down on the XX with a 30 shot I will shake their hand and say they have a fast bike! Oh I forgot to mention it before but this is my street bike I put on about 13,000 miles a year so it needs to still run really good even when i'm not spraying
  24. I have finally got my XX all set up the way I want it. And damn it runs good! This winter I will powder coat my swing arm black and then be done with the XX. But before I do that I want to put a little shot of Nitrous on the XX. Nothing Crazy big, maybe like a 20 or 30 shot. You know just enough to make it fair if i get in a fight with a Hayabusa. I am rarely beat by Busa's not because the XX is faster but that most Busa riders in the area just arnt that good of riders. Any ways I was hopeing someone here could lay out a shopping list for me of what the best NO2 system would be for my XX. Its a stock engine with 2Bros Carbon fiber slipons, a K&N filter, and DynoJet Stage 1 jet kit. I've also geared 16T in the front. I want a system that will just give me a little bump when i need it. What system have you guys that shoot NO2 use, or did you build your own. I am just looking to know just what i need. I have searched nitrous on the forum and found plenty of talk about it ,but i could not find the kit used or the components to build my own kit. Thanks
  25. this is plug and play the way a Power Commander with a map is. it will be better then stock, but far from the best. The V&H will still need dyno tuned to get the most out of it. but seriously the Screaming Eagle EFI RaceTuner is much better then this. It costs more, but it is really the ONLY programmer worth a crap for Harley-Davidson's. Might as well get a Forcewinder or Screaming Eagle Stage 1 air cleaner while your at it. I think a SE Stage 1 air cleaner is about $140-150, ForceWinder are more but they look tough, and get a few more ponys.
