  1. Similar to LOGOMAN my dunlops cupped and wobbled (2003 xx) when due to be replaced, normal for old tyres so i believe, I'm runnin front diablo now in cold weather and love it, although they take time to heat up. My dunlop sport rear has done 7,000 km and still has 1/3 to 1/4 left on it. Still my favourite has to be Metzeller Metz 5's or M5's I think they are called. Still in the shed with 1/4 left on it (rear) done 9,500KM (on my zx10). Although I really liked the Dunlop sport on the front when it was new for grip (got 17,000km..yep). Still I'm going to replace the rear with a Diablo just to see how they go all round.
  2. I took out the Honda oil and put in Mobil 1 and my 2003 xx was also more rattly but that's OK it's quite normal Matey. Always better wid a new CCT, less top end chuckle, spring is $30 CCT whole is $95 AU
  3. Good to hear guy's so 45,000kph if I still have the bb I'll worry about them, so far only 15,000kph (2003) ZX10 was done at 70,000kph and gained 15% more power but one rattled which really anoyed me, I could'nt trust the stealer so left it as it was, sold now, still miss her though. Hey you guy's really get into the nitty gritty dont you, guess you love the XXBB, best bike I ever had.
  4. Bugs land on my lap with a standard screen, and I get no buffetting on a standard screen unless I get a 45 degree gusty wind travelling around 130 kmph. I switched to an Eagle touring screen with lip (slight lip), I now have bugs comming over with wind and dumping into Gauge area, so my gauges gets a lot dirtier, I get less wind on my face and chest though, so turbulence YES, buffeting 70-100kmph YES, however over 100kmph NO only a feeling of vaccuum on my chest. I should have gone for a Double Bubble as the manufacturer suggested but did'nt like the lines on it. Stick to a standard is my opinion. Cheers
  5. The ZX12 is ultra smoooth, even low in revs in high gear, lots o grunt, corners like a race setup bike, love it but not for touring, may be my next bike or maybe not, I know I can really load up the bird and not worry about cracking frames. :icon_hand:
  6. still looking for something that works, wd40 or crc could be too expensive for the buckets full of dirty rags I've collected, 50cents per bagfull I may just chuck them out, I find they scratch things after they have been washed after shed cleaning, so slowly loosing confidence in recycling them ...sorry ..my bit. :icon_wall:
  7. :icon_clap: This dunlop sport rhs wear & some cupping (sport touring) gave me 10,000Km when I changed to a Pirrelli Diablo (tour sport). The pirelli is quite a firm ride but it is still new and probably will soften. My old ZX10 ran Metz (4 I think) on the front with no cupping after only rhs wear due to our abundant roundabouts 14,000Km on that one (my ZX10 weighed 220lb same as xx plus my 80Kilo bod) [attachmentid=1242]
  8. [attachmentid=1240] :icon_clap: I agree with Redxxrdr with exhaust leaks' otherwise check the aircleaner is fitted properly without any leaks. Also check all carb balance or injection mixtures are properly adjusted (not really sure about FI models). My FI 2003 model ran rough and had a lumpy idle and a new CCT resolved 1/2 dozen issues.
  9. Faulty CCT, has been updated by Honda. 14520-MAT-E21 & 14523-MAL-A00 (CCT and Gasket) 2003
  10. Iv'e always had front sprocket noise, so I use ear plugs, it's more than any other bike Iv'e had but acceptable. When 1st gear noise rose around 4'000rpm it was time for a new CCT (14'000KM) the noise seem to come from the left lower side but the CCT is on the Right??? Noise went after changing and sounded like a new one.
  11. Depending on your weight and loading, think about replacing wheel bearings around 40,000km. I like to powdercoat a new color on my rims while the bearings are out. The bearings are usually non replacable once removed due to possible damage. So good time for paint. Graham
  12. My bb ran rough on cold idle, and smelt like part unburnt fuel and i almost replaced the plugs but were to lazy to undo everything, tried topside first then realised you had to go through the radiator bottom side, after giving up (14,000Km) thinking they will go a little longer, I replaced the CCT co's of a bleary rattle at 4,000rpm and all was fixed....runs like a new one. Graham
  13. I tried some clear tank protector and it turned out opaque and rather matt looking so took it off, I guess I'd rather scratches than that stuff, still looking for a really CLEAR product.
  14. One half of my chain stretched one morning and it literally waved up and dowm, when i spun the wheel on the main stand. It was perfect the day before, I simply worked it very hard (thrashed it) whilst cold, now I make sure the chain and the motor is hot before fanging it. (believe this or not, co's I cant explain it any other way).
