  1. It was my sigline a while back 'happiness is well-greased cush rubbers.'
  2. As long as you put them back where they belong, you can reuse them. The little rubber connectors just ease installation. Reinstall coated with a good quality grease. My TLR ATE those fucking things for dinner.
  3. Kirby. Expensive but they'll last for-fucking-ever. As for the source, shit they'll come to your home!
  4. That'd be my guess. Of course I could be talking directly out of my ass here. Good luck!
  5. I can tell ya the clip-on bolts are 20 ft/lbs...I'll do a bit of digging and get back with you on the fork caps.
  6. That'd be them. My stock pads were replaced at about 18,000 miles (they were capital-D DONE) with EBC HH pads. Currently the EBC's have 16,000 on them and they're not even half done yet, but I do a lot of highway riding with little braking. I've heard they are no more unkind to rotors than stockers, but I can't comment for sure. My rotors are not wearing in any way out of the ordinary. And for performance, the stockers were adequate to good. The HH stop you RIGHT FUCKING NOW with just two fingers on the lever and no foot on the rear. They do take just a bit to warm up, but it's never caused me any problems; no worse than the stockers. And they're noisy when you get on em hard. I give em about 19 thumbs up.
  7. If'n you're looking for a kickass ratchet, Blackhawk has some super nice 36- and 72-tooth ones. I replaced all my Craftsman ratchets with them; I can't stand to use those sloppy pieces of shit after I got my first Blackhawk. http://www.stanleyproto.com/default.asp?TY...talog=Blackhawk Don't be scared that they're made by Stanley. Blackhawk is a division of Proto, which are the tools used by the space program. Of course they are rebuildable and carry a lifetime warranty.
  8. My tire machine has a piece of 5/8" allthread that is used to clamp the wheel down. IIRC, it fits with some slop thru the front wheel and with plenty of slop thru the rear. I'd say you'll be fine. Of course I could be talking directly out of my ass here.
  9. My brother is a gold-level master tech at a Jeep dealership, ie he beats on his tools day in, day out. While he started buying the Matco & Snap-On etc early in his career, nowadays if he needs a new tool he goes to harbor freight. If he breaks it, he takes it back for a free replacement. In the rare occasion he gets tired of returning a tool he keeps breaking, he'll buy the hi-dollar one, which often don't last much longer. 95% of the tools he's bought in the past few years have been from HF, and that's enough endorsement for me. Edit: that being said I'd suggest buying the best ratchets you can afford, but use HF for your sockets and combination wrenches. I hate cheap, sloppy ratchets.
  10. Ya know it'd be easier to wire in a manual fan switch.
  11. That's probably the best tire tutorial out there. This is your bead breaker. No need to buy some big fancy expensive deal.
  12. I'd better grab some Desitin. For the chafing. 8)
  13. That shit gives me wood every time I see it. I gotta go have a private moment now. :cum:
  14. There's a sync for the starter valve, but other than that...your guess is as good as mine.
  15. I had similar fears so I took the connector in question apart, cleaned it with contact cleaner and a brass brush and packed it full of dielectric grease and reassembled. Hopefully it will continue to be trouble-free.
  16. Zero Gravity makes the SR (stock replacement) Series that are patterned after the stockers. They're a whopping 3mm thick so while they'll look the part, they'll be thinner than stock.
  17. Just like the throttlemeister, Vista and NEP throttle locks are adjustable to hold the throttle, but not so much that you can't manually override it in a hurry if you have to. You're instructed (just like with the throttlemeister) to set the tension to where it will hold the throttle but will still allow you to override it. Oh and $20 vs. $130. Not much comparison in my mind. I don't care how pretty they are. For an additional $100 or more, they better give me a blowjob too.
  18. The 97 is the best year as they're already uncorked. for 2k if it's in any kind of decent condition is worth it.
  19. This gets my dick hard. Imagine that on a black and yellow bird. Rar. I'm horny. Any idea of the price point Dale?
  20. For the record, excluding people from a discussion because they disagree with you is censorship, or 'censorism' as you called it. Back to the topic: I have used K&N filters on the bird and on other bikes, and because I have experienced a loss of fuel economy, I will go back with the stocker in the spring. This is based on my observations, and I don't understand how any amount of pointless internet hand-wringing is going to add anything to the knowledge base. To sum it up: my fuel economy has gone down since I put in a K&N. I'm going to go back to stock and see what happens. Update to follow.
  21. Maybe we need a 'Never-Ending Pointless Recurring Threads' section like the FJR board? I'd get behind that idea.
  22. Well put. However we sell the shit out of it. I think the majority of people who are buying it are basing their purchase on anectotal instead of empirical evidence. That's not good enough for me. It's like my daddy used to say:
