  1. Thanks guys! Gawd I love how if ya ask a question here, ya learn. Fast and easy too. I also like the 100 "wax job" offer, but man, my wife is the jealous type! I have not used Crystal Glow (yet... it's next in the Wax Quest). I have used Meguiars and like that very much. Although, Meguiars makes several waxes and their clear coat wax seems no different from their three step process wax which seems no different from their carnauba wax. Still, though, they do shine and last. Again, thanks for the useful info and experience.
  2. I came accross this recently in my quest for the perfect wax for the perfect bike (ok.....and perfect truck too). http://www.5starshine.com/ Has anyone here ever used this stuff? It sounds plausible....PTFE in an ionized wax does sound like it would be a great barrier against the elements. But the almost 100$ price makes me wonder if it's just another scam. I wrote the retailers, they got back to me within hours. Thanks in advance for any info on this product.

    D205 MILEAGE?

I got 4500 out of my 205's. The back showed cord on the way back from a 180 mile trip. That annoyed me.....a lot. The front was badly cupped and was IMHO shot. I just tried out the Avons today. This is my third thread response to say these tires are fantastic. I would recommend that you not try and get all the life out of a set of 205's, you don't know what you're missing by not having better tires. Maybe 205's are Honda's way of saying "take a year, ride easy, break Her in slowly".
  4. I rode 205's last year and for my first 2 trips of this year. I was wary of leaning too far and they surely walked a bit in deeper turns at any speed. These were my first sport tires on my first sport bike so I had no basis by which to compare how (badly) the 205's handled. I figured they were above average and that some sportier riders were just picky. Now I've felt the Avons and man do I have the word for these sticky mothers: FUN! Man, I can't wait to get used to these things. These Avons transform the ride completely. I did not think a 275lb guy on a 500lb bike could go to the edge of a tire on West Virginia roads. I was wrong. I can't wait to ride again! Now I see how you guys scrape shit on your bikes. Oh, they do rumble when I am pushing Her out of the garage, but not at all on the road.
  5. I finally got to ride today. Geez I've been working a lot this spring (this is a good thing). This was my first ride on the new Avons 45/46's. I had Dunlop 205's (OEM) last year. I am AMAZED! These tires make a tremendous difference. After maybe 45 mins of riding I had to get home to make dinner and went to lube the chain and I noticed I'd passed last year's lean angles on brand new tires! There's only 1/4 inch left, and I am no hard fast race type rider. I thought I was just cruising kinda aggressively. These tires are like glue-to-pavement. Totally confidence inspiring. Totally relaxing even at max lean. Carlos and everyone who recommended these to me, my thanks and a huge brew to all of ya!
