  1. changing the front is $20, the rear is ~$60. The factory rear sprocket is good for 2 chains. The front should be changed every chain.
  2. I'd go over your battery connections and grounds. Starter button turns off headlight already when pressed, pulling fuse won't help. It will help when riding to charge though but I don't recomend riding sans headlight for safety.
  3. Plug and play. Except for the bending and cutting of a longer mounting slot in the horn bracket. I just stuck my head under the front of my 99 Monte Carlo. Same exact horn but there are 2, a high and low tone. Wish I could get another one mounted in my XX somewhere.
  4. With much fabbing of the bracket I got it in there but it was hard to clear the brake hoses that cross the fender at full fork compression. I'm fighting the urge to tweak the screw in the horn. It sounds decent but seems like there could be more sound to be had. Screw has sealant on it.
  5. Looks good to me for 30k miles, thanks for the pic. Just put on my gold (bling) DIDZVM2 chain last night. old ZVM had 26100 miles on it and I was just starting to feel the 3 tight links through the pegs while riding.
  6. Just glanced at the site. So instead of a liquid now beads are going to roll around in your tire? :icon_hand: No thanks.
  7. I had the stock, went to the ZGST found it blocked a lot of wind but with more turbulence and then went with the ZG double bubble, perfect. It offers more wind blocking then stock without the turbulance and follows the lines of the bike better than the ST shield. Actually, looking at your pics unless someone added edgeing it's not from Zero Gravity. Don't know who made that.
  8. http://www.sasbk.co.za/suspension_setup_guidelines.htm Do some reading NOW my young padawan, the force will be revealed to you.
  9. Glad you like it. Hope you cleaned your clutch pushrod while you were in there....... Oh yea, everything's spotless in there now. That new Dupont lube won't make a mess like the chain wax did. The chain was actually making a groove through the ooze.
  10. Well I did it yesterday, put on a JT 18 tooth front sprocket. I love it! Bike should come geared from the factory like that. I know they chose the gearing for performance/top speed. It actually makes it feel faster since the same engine revs have you going at a faster speed. No problems with launches I can still take off in second gear like I do sometimes in traffic like before. You really notice it at speeds over 75, less engine noise/vibration and you're still hauling ass. I'll let you know about fuel mileage. I must have lost 10 lbs of chain lube goo from the front sprocket area when I installed it. What a mess. NO MORE CHAIN WAX!
  11. That's what I wanted to hear. With some makes talking about case hardening and some not I was worried. I just pulled my front factory sprocket (not origional) and at 28k miles it has some wear just slightly hooked if you look at it hard enough. BTW I LOVE the 18 tooth! I'll post in the 18 tooth thread.
  12. That's the one I'm looking at. I went to Advance Auto yesterday and almost bought it then asked the counter guy if it doesn't fit can I return it. He said no. He then goes out with me to my bike and we both look at it and decide it won't fit. He coincidently has a Gold Wing. Keep in mind I've got my forks set at 45mm above the tree per hyperpro. Do you have it mounted so it points straight ahead? Do you still think it will fit?
  13. Are all brands the same in quality? As Joe says "it's a pointy piece of steel" or something like that. I ordered a JT brand front locally because his parts unlimited catalog didn't show an AFAM in 18 tooth. Is JT OK? Are there any brands to avoid?
  14. +1 Always do the front sprocket with a new chain Obby, You'll soon be ratcheting the chain as it slips around the front sprocket. Not to mention it will speed wear on a new chain. I'd check it pronto.
  15. Mine came with 7.5 also which I put in. Works fine but I'm 280 lbs. Factory weight is 10. I'm amazed 2.5 even works, that's like water.
  16. 18 VOLTS!!!! Is that possible? Yes. When the reg/rec goes bad it either shorts or opens, either not charging or overcharging. When my bike did it I started blowing headlight bulbs and the fan fuse. Mine was only spikeing to 18 volts occasionally had to keep it hooked up to the meter for a time to notice.
  17. After much thinking and paying attention while I ride (not to mention the FUCKING GAS PRICES! ) I'm going to go order an 18 tooth AFAM. Anybody want a 17 tooth AFAM still in the package?
  18. I'd check your charging output might be putting out 18 volts if blowing bulbs. Backlight for insturments I put in 161 bulbs. Not sure about indicator bulbs.
  19. Great, a Buick sounds good to me. I'm going to check the auto parts stores for the low 500HZ Fiamm.
  20. Has anyone mounted a Fiamm Freeway Blaster horn in the stock location? Is there enough room without hitting the fender at full fork compression? Only $15 from Aerostitch catalog.
  21. What's your rider sag measurement? I just did the Hyperpro front and rear over the winter. I'm 280 and I'm not adding any spacers.
  22. I don't think I've ever sat on a VFR, saw a white one at a dealer but never thought to sit on it. VFR bars are easy to get, just post on the VFR site. They're putting Helibars on.
  23. The PA contingent keeps growing! I'm 30 miles north of Harrisburg, we all need to get together for a ride! My bike came used with helibars, I didn't even know it for a month. I later went with VFR bars, they're higher and look better. You can also mount them about 3/4 in. higher up the fork tubes. You can rotate them anywhere you want just don't have them hit the tank at full lock.
