    JB weld

I've never used it but am thinking of doing some repairs to some older Kawasaki concours plastics. I have a main fairing from my '94 that is in excellent condition with the exception of 3 broken mounting tabs. I have a donor fairing for the tabs and am gonna use the lowers as a jig to attach the tabs to the upper. Has anyone used JB weld for anything like this and what were your results. Did you think the mounting tabs were sturdy enough after welding (epoxying) or not. TIA Skip
  2. Have all mounting hardware. No keys for the tops though. Never had them. I believe they will fit all years but am not sure. My XX is a '97.
  3. Have been repainted (done before purchased). Couple of light scratches on outside surfaces. Few heavier scratches on bikeside surfaces (those that can't be seen when mounted). Pics attached. $600 plus shipping. Located upstate NY. This shows bikeside surface scratches
  4. Just trying to see if there's any interest out there. In very good condition. Nice basso sound. Couple of small scratches in carbon fiber and a little discoloration on top where soft bags came in contact with them. No dents or dings. I can deliver within a few hundred mile radius as long as I've got some stock pipes to put on for the ride home. Can also meet up within a reasonable distance if you want to see or hear them first. $400 + shipping.
  5. Leaving on a month long road trip on June 25th and decided to go with a Givi set-up. Already have an E52 Maxia so just need side cases. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tnx Skip
  6. Hey Pete. Has been a while. Last time I saw you was on the little ride through the adirondacks a few years back. My left knee still reminds me about that ride every day. : ( Getting together sounds like a great idea. John is (JJP) still up this way. Maybe the 3 of us can get together for a ride. Gonna be working at one of the local hospitals? Thanks Joe.
  7. Selling my Beetle bags. They are in very good condition with a few minor scratches and a couple of small gouges on the bottom of the right bag. Nothing viewable when mounted.. Also a couple of wear areas around directionals and next to bike where bag rubbed against the rear cowel. Do not have the keys. Haven't had them since I bought the bike. These are off of what once was JC Rich's bike. I would like to get $800 + shipping for them. I'm in the Albany area of NY if anyone would like to see them firsthand. Skip
  8. Friend of mine just picked up a 2003 SV1000 with a Yoshimura 2 into 1 exhaust. Bike accelerates fine with no flat spots or hesitation. The bike is popping a bit on deceleration. Is this a normal thing with this setup? TIA Skip
  9. Topic says it all. Any aftermarket pegs or mods done to lower pillions feet? Other than sitting on a phone book. Thanks all. Skip
  10. Yeah, I knew it was something along those lines.. funny thing is when I first rode the XX out here from NY I really didn't "feel" a huge difference. Just goes to show you how rarely one actually uses every bit of HP a bike has. I even got the XX up to 178 indicated on highway 125 up by Walden once, and that's like 8000 ft. Surprised with that much power loss to get moving that fast (and yes, I'm aware that the actual speed was nowhere near the indicated). I did notice the loss in power when I road in Colorado (from NY). I also noticed better gas mileage. Does that make sense?
  11. Finally got around to replacing the seal this morning. Toughest part was getting the old seal off. Thing was like concrete. Probably only a 30 minute job including plastics if it wasn't for that. Other than that it was very easy. Thank you again for your help. Skip
  12. Excellent! Thank you very much for the pics and information. I appreciate it very much and that is exactly the information I was looking for. Now can you tell me where I can get a job? : ). Just kidding. Been unemployed for 6 weeks now and enjoying the summer as much as I can. It's been 32 years since I've had more than 2 weeks off in one stretch. I could get used to this if it wasn't for the whole lack of money thing. I will read the book. Skip

    Oil leak

I've been trying to trace a small oil leak and i think I may have found it but not sure. I have the shop manual for my'97xx but cant seem to find what this may be. Any input will be appreciated. The first picture is for reference. Next is of the area itself I think the leak is coming from.
  14. Got a message from Rich telling me he spent $500 on it new. I'd like to get $300 for it.
  15. Penske shock. Not sure of model #. No remote reservoir. It is what you see. I was told this was set for a 176 lb rider( JC Rich's old XX). I haven't used it since I bought the bike. Looks like an 8983 but am not sure. Don't even know what to ask for it but am willing to discuss price. Been unemployed for 6 weeks now and need to start moving some stuff. Will be posting some other stuff in the next week or so. Thanks Skip
  16. Bike ('97) was hit in parking lot. Left lower small crack and scuffs. Right lower has minor rash. Where can I get the cheapest brandy new ones? No perfect ones on ebay right now. Anyone try one of those bodywork sets out of Hong Kong?
  17. Thanks for the link. Just sent them an email asking them if they'd be willing to do the same thing this year. Got a reply from Jeff at HP Cycles. He said he would be willing to do another group buy this year. The numbers he gave me were close to swmoto prices (with 25 sets purchased) WITHOUT shipping. So the final cost would be $20-$30 per set more than what swmoto charges for 1 set. Looks like swmoto is the way to go.
  18. Thanks for the link. Just sent them an email asking them if they'd be willing to do the same thing this year.
  19. Title and description says it all. It's that time of year and I'm looking for the best deal on Michelin PR II's. Any suggestions? I got them last year through the group buy that was around this time. Anybody remember what the name of the company was? Skip
