  1. Will VTEC bars make it go faster? :]

    MacTac

I think we're talking about more or less the same stuff. I just find it difficult not to get the folds. Now I have to take of a couple patches because the folds are on the top, so gas, or dirt, water, etc, will get into it and sit.
  3. It's the metal reflective coatings that cause the problem. So if you don't have a chromed or iridium one, you should have no problem.

    MacTac

There is already an antislip on the bag, what's happening is fine grit gets between the magnet and the tank and it leaves a mark, so I have to tac the tank. I could make the patches smaller of course, and probably will sometime.

    Mounting GPS

Ok, got it mounted. Here are three pics...hope they aren't too big. Good clearence, not too obtrusive, and not obvious from the sides... Mount was nice and clean. I took the tripple tree off and used a drill press, then tapped the threads. I used metric of course (can't carry around two sets of tools). Works well.... The rotation point is about center, so it doesn't hang over onto my tank. It works really well...not too much room to get at my key though :[

    MacTac

Drag, so I pick up a roll of that clear mactac to put on my tank where the magnets from my givi tankbag is starting to leave a bit of a ring. So I found out I had six magnets...and six ugly ass patches of mactac. Gaawd, it looks hideous. Oh well, at least it'll keep the paint decent. I don't drive much without the tank bag so that's ok.

    Mounting GPS

Perfect. I mounted mine originally with that EZ mount but didn't like the angle and the height it produced. I mounted a small mount on the left side of the triple tree. The GPS sits right in the middle of the bars so it's nice. The only drawback is it's not simple to get at the key, have to pay attention. I'll post pics later. Thanks!

    Mounting GPS

Do you think that's enough, you think he'll post his pics? And, yah, I got it off the other site..had to ask around :]

    Mounting GPS

I have a SPIII mounted on my XX using the mount that goes over the clutch mount bolts. I find that the GPS vibrates at higher rate of speeds and slightly bumpy conditions. I was thinking of drilling and tapping a couple holes and mount it off the top of my triple tree. Anyone have any other ideas?
  10. I've actually lost the drain plug and tossed oil over my back tire. Quite annoying really. Then there was the time I didn't put the oil cap back on, and washed my bike....and the engine....
  11. What about cleaning the greasy areas, honda polish doesn't do that? Any suggestions there?
  12. Either that you found out that everyone else found it WAAAAAAY easier to get at it from the right :]
  13. I'll wait to hear from you. Lemme know!
  14. Mine did this, but it was water in the tank. No doubt that's been addressed. I ended up checking to make sure there was enough gas coming through the pump and had it pouring into a plastic jug. My friend was holding it while I was idling the bike. He looked at it and asked what the clear stuff was floating around the bottom (water). Crap..... Luckily I only wasted a weekend on that one :]
  15. Well, since it's less of a pita to check the charging system, I'll do that up tonight. I notice the "simple" test where my headlight will glow brighter when I rev the engine, but I"ll be a tad more precise tonight.
  16. Damn, takes me forever to unhook the winrack crap. Alrighty I'll give this a shot.
  17. A couple years ago I was driving and my speedo started to shut off, then work, then off, then work....then all lights on the dash went out. Then back on. A day later my battery dies. I replace it and two years later my dash starts acting up, then after a 200 km ride, I pull over, turn off the engine to get gas and it won't start, dead battery. I bump start it and it is fine when I stop 50 kms later and restarts no prob. Anybody go through either of these before? I don't even know if they are related. My battery terminals are all tight.
  18. Wha? Where are you from? Cdn XX's have hollow rear axles (at least mine and one other I looked at did). Maybe it varies by region..can't see why though. Does anyone else have a solid?
  19. I use two wooden dowls (long). Put one through the swingarm bolt, and the other through your rear axel. Then have them come out equal distance on either side of the bike (ie, a foot). Then measure from end of the axle dowl to the end of the swingarm dowl on one side, compare this number to the other side. Adjust alignment and repeat. Works GREAT!. Don't worry about wood warpage since it'll just "U" and then you'll have the two ends drooping, which doesn't effect distance to the other dowl by any appreciable amount. Tried other variations includine measure axle (small amout of change equals big aligment = greater chance of error), string (pain in the ass), stick on chain (hard to gauge due to the short stick), etc. Give it a shot, it'll cost you about 4 bucks to buy the dowls.
  20. What your checking is the bodies reaction to carbs. I'm a diabetic and my diet is strickly carb counting. I take a package and look at the total carbs and calculate the insulin using this number. If you use complex carbs, it takes longer for it to get into your system, and hence perhaps longer for your body to react to it. Or it reacts better because the digestion is slower...can't tell for sure. Simple carbs will zip into your body fairly quickly and cause your sugar to rise faster, but won't last as long as your insulin will take care of it quickly. So.... you'll probably find that when your sugar was high, you were eating complex, when it was low, you were using simple. Does that help at all?

    Weld muffler?

Turns out that my mount that is just under the right foot peg decided to seperate itself from the muffler. Can that matterial be welded? I know it was welded on of course, but it kinda looks like stainless steel or something, and if so I didn't think that could be welded. I'm driving to americade today (with a hole in my muffler) and I want to get it welded when I'm in the Albany area.
  22. Keep your papers handy. You always come across them at reasonable prices. AND they are hardly ever in rough shape.
  23. OMG! I did the exact same thing, had the exact same problem!!! That's funny. Well, not really. I pushed it 3 km's, but it was reasonably flat.
  24. What will be remedied by adjusting the rebound? Not physically, but the actual signs...
  25. If you haven't changed your fluid in a while, or it's corrupt, then that would create a spongy feel that would be similiar to what you indicate perhaps.
