  1. never noticed this on mine with full givi hard luggage, but then i don't take both hands off the bars at any time. iain
  2. I wouldn't bother, if Honda or any other bike/car manufacturer thought it necessary to have this stuff on then i think they would put it on at the factory. Plus i think it looks shite. Only my 2 cents worth. iain
  3. here i come swinging from the ceiling light then iain
  4. I wonder if this would also work before sex??? iain
  5. Since moving to my new house which needs a ton of work on it i have managed to loose at least 3 to 4llbs in 10 days. Who needs a diet just do some diy. iain
  6. Sticking calipers maybe, bad install maybe, pads not sitting quite right, i would do it again and put a little copper brake grease on the backs of the pads, and press in the pistons a little on the calipers to make sure it's all free'd up ok. Iain
  7. I painted the floor in my old garage, great to keep clean but when wet was very slippery, imagine this, putting your XX away in the garage wet putting your foot on the floor and woops over she goes. I would try and find some non slip paint, car dealers use this kind stuff on workshop floors. Or mix the paint with sand to give a bit of grip maybe. Iain
  8. if it takes you more than an hour to do all 3 calipers i would be surprised. basically it's the same for all 3, unscrew the slotted cap (can be a pain to undo) on the caliper underneath you will then see an allen head bolt, unscrew that pull out pads use the old ones to push the pistons on the caliper back in, slide in new pads making sure they are located right in at the top, put allen head bolt in and the cap screw, job done. Iain
  9. Bang on with the description, thing is got an 012 on the rear so i may try one of these on the front giving me a matched pair until they are both shot, i got a few more miles left in the front before i change, may just see the summer out. Iain
  10. Interesting i have got an 010 on the front and that is looking a bit odd like it hasn't worn evenly, now i know what you mean, any ideas on what causes this??? Iain
  11. I am curious as to what this means as i haven't heard of this expression before, can someone please enlighten me. Cheers Iain
  12. Looks like chain then, thinking about it now had a similar thing on my old cbr 600. Thanks Iain
  13. First started to notice this when we were in france it's now getting worse, at around 40mph in 5th i can feel a rhythmic pulse through the left peg when on a light throttle i.e trickling through town traffic. Chain is adjusted ok but it is now getting towards replacement and it is tighter in some places than others, i am wondering if it's chain and sprockets time??? Iain
  14. Don't think you will hurt anything by not using the clutch, and like you i have found smoother changes especially at higher rpms, but then sometimes i just use the clutch as i find i have to concentrate more. Iain
  15. Hi folks need a little help diagnosing a prob with my 98 XX, i have noticed since i have had the bike that i can't seem to pull up to a dead stop smoothly, it's like there is a part of the front discs that seem to grab the pads (newish EBC HH), i get no vibration or pulsing like if they were warped. Having looked at the discs there is a part of them (pad size) that is pitted like the bike has been stood at sometime in it's life with water between pad and disc at this point, it's the same on both front discs. Any ideas on how to cure this??? Iain
  16. Thanks very much, when i replaced them i pulled the old ones out without removing the calipers (saw a post here on how to do it), any tips on how to check that they are not canted???? Iain
  17. Hi i just got my 98 bird last week, i have replaced all the pads with ebc hh, just wondered how long they take to bed in, i have noticed that the outer 4mm on one disc is not yet being touched by the pad. Other question is it sounds like the front pads are touching the disc slightly causing a rubbing sound, they are not binding or turning the disc blue is this normal??? This was the same with the old pads. Love the bike so different to my old CBR 600. Thanks Iain
